    By: Kjelbi, Taylor, and Hunter

  • What are the Allied Forces? k

    - The Allied forces were Great Britain, Poland, France, and later the

United States and the Soviet Union.

-They worked together and were against the Axis Powers.

    - The Allied Forces ended up winning the war.

  • Great Britain T

    - During WWll, Winston Churchill was the leader of Great Britain

    - During the war, the Germans hoped that Britain would stay out of the war, and they

    did.

    - In 1839, Britain signed a paper called the Treaty of London, between The European

Great Powers, the United Kingdom of Netherlands, and the Kingdom of Belgium,

    promising to defend each other.

-So in WWll, they promised to defend Belgium.

  • Poland H

    - The leader of Poland was Wladyslaw Anders during WWll.

-There were concentration camps in Poland, like the Warsaw.

    - Poland fought bravely on land, sea, and air.

  • France H- The leader of France was Charles de Gaulle.

    - France and Britain declared war on Germany when it invaded Poland in 1939.

    - The Germans defeated and invaded France, and forced them off the continent, so they

    surrendered to Germany.

  • The United States h

-The president of the United States at the time was Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

-The United States ability to make airplanes, ships, and thousands of tanks was crucial for the success of the Allied

    Forces.

-They joined the war after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Dec of 1941.

    - They led and planned the attack against the Nazis in Western Europe.

-Franklin D Roosevelt tried to get a bigger military buildup, and started providing aid to the Lend-lease to Britain.

    - The Lend-lease program provided U.S military aid to foreign countries.

  • The Soviet Union t- A few countries that were a part of the Soviet Union were Russia, Czechoslovakia, and Ukraine.

-The Soviet Union joined the Allies in June of 1941, after the invasion of Poland in 1939.

    - The leader of The Soviet Union was Joseph Stalin.

-In 1939, Hitler and Stalin signed the Nazi-Soviet non-aggression pact, to prevent war.

  • What were the Axis powers? k

    - The Axis Powers were founded and lead by Germany, Italy, and Japan

    - Later on, it included Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary.

-The Axis Powers were against the Allies.

    - The Axis lost to the Allies.

  • Germany h The leader of Germany was Hitler.

    - Germany held most of the Nazis, and were the ones running the Concentration camps.

-The war began from Germany invading Poland, this was the start of WWll.

-The Nazis were against the Jews/Jewish People, and believed they were horrible creatures, and that

    they should be rid of.

  • Italy k-Italy didn’t do a lot other in the war than support Germany.

-Italy invaded Libya and then attached Somalia and Ethiopia.

    - They also tried to invade Egypt to take them away from Great Britain but

    Britain defeated them.

    -They also invaded Greece.

  • Japan k

-Japan attached to all the islands south, and Philippines and China.

-They also captured Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

-They wanted to gain control over countries that had natural resources they didn't have.

    - One resource that they didn’t have was oil, which was pretty much what their country

    relied on.

-Two other resources are coal and iron.

  • Why did the Allies win WW11?

    - The first reason why they won is because they had better technology such as airplanes, bombs, etc. Both

sides had pretty good technology, but the Allies had better. The United States played a huge role in the

    success of the Allies’ technology.

    - The next reason why is because they had better intelligence. The Allies had a good radar system because

they could tell where German planes were without the Germans knowing. This made them crack the German

    code.

    - The weather couldn’t be controlled, but it helped the Allies win the war. In 1940, Dunkirk, a French port,

Hitler was going to bomb the nearby town, but due to stormy weather, the Axis had to cancel the bombing.

This let hundreds of thousands of British soldiers escape safely on boats back to Britain.

  • Quote & elaboration

“Don’t tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise

you with the results” (General George S. Patton).

    - This quote is saying don’t tell how to do something, just tell them what to do and they will figure it out. People can surprise and satisfy you with the result. It’s saying that some people can seem like a

disappointment. Once you tell them what to do, they can do amazing things. It’s saying that people

    are capable of good things.
