Introduction

Allianz is dedicated to upholding and promoting the highest levels of professional standards.

Launched in 2012, the Allianz Scholarship Programme is a learning and development framework which supports talented brokers to achieve the CII Diploma in Insurance.

The Scholarship Programme forms part of the Allianz Partners Academy which has been designed to provide first-class learning and networking opportunities to talented UK broking professionals.

This brochure provides an overview of the Allianz Scholarship Programme – how it works and the benefits for you. I am confident that you will be excited to engage with the structured path the Allianz Scholarship Programme offers in support of your career development.

Best wishes with your application.

“Allianz has always been at the forefront of professional development. The Allianz Partners Academy continues to assist brokers in the industry to achieve Chartered Insurance Broker status. All CII qualifications are based on completing a number of individual units. Each study unit has a number of credits associated with it; these are allocated according to the level and complexity of the unit. You are awarded the credits for each unit upon completion.

In order to achieve the Diploma in Insurance and be entitled to use the CII member designation ‘Dip CII’ you must obtain a total of 120 credits with a minimum of 90 credits being at Diploma level or above. As part of the 90 credits, you are required to sit two compulsory units – M05 Insurance law and M92 Insurance business and finance, both of which are covered by our programme.

How the Allianz Scholarship Programme worksThe Allianz Scholarship Programme will support you towards achieving your CII Diploma in Insurance.

Sian Fisher CEO of the Chartered Insurance Institute

“Allianz’s collaboration with the CII has assisted many brokers in attaining the Chartered title and by embracing the challenges of professionalism and creating a framework of support they have seen scholars achieve pass marks in excess of the industry average. The first class tuition and networking opportunities they have created for participants are invaluable and they are to be commended for leading the way in driving up standards across the profession.”

“The Allianz Scholarship Programme was a fantastic opportunity which assisted greatly in helping me

to pass my Diploma and provided me with a ready-made network of Scholars. It also gave me the opportunity to meet a vast number of connections within Allianz. I can’t endorse the programme enough and have recommended it to anyone at work considering taking on the CII’s Diploma in Insurance – it helps hugely to have the combination of workshops and a group of people around you tackling the same exams!”

When we confirm the dates of your first workshop for each module you will be required to enrol for the unit at least two weeks in advance directly from CII. Allianz will email you relevant workbooks for note taking at each workshop.

Allianz Scholarship Programme

Questions and answers

What networking opportunities are there?

The aim of the Scholarship Programme is to create a community of Insurance Professionals. In addition to study workshops we offer other events where you can network with your peers and Allianz senior employees. There is also ample opportunity and benefits to building an online network with the use of our LinkedIn Scholarship group.

What if there is more than one applicant from my company?

Having more than one applicant from a broker ’s firm is fine. You should apply through the process described on pages 11 and 12.

What happens if I miss a workshop?

You will be sent the workbook from the session and have the option to organise a private session with one of our tutors at your own cost. If you miss three sessions or more we will contact your sponsor to discuss your commitment to the programme.

What if I need to stop my studies for a period of time?

If there is a genuine reason for you to take a break from studying then you will be able to ‘drop out’ of the current year group and we will guarantee you a place in the following year so you can complete your studies. This will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances and at our discretion.

What happens if I leave the Scholarship Programme before

completing it?

If you do not complete the Scholarship Programme, Allianz will be entitled to recover costs for workshops attended and any revision sessions you have been to. Please refer to the sample contract, available with this brochure, for full details.

If I leave the Scholarship Programme can my place be

given to another person in my broker firm?

No because we have a pre-approved waiting list and the position will be filled by someone on that list.

What happens if I fail an my coursework and/or exam?

If you fail your coursework and/or exam you will continue on the Scholarship Programme as normal but will be expected to re-take these as soon as possible. As you will have already undertaken the workshops for the unit, there will be no additional workshops to support your studies. The cost of re-submitting your coursework or re-taking your exam will be at your or your company’s expense.

What happens if I miss an exam? If you miss an exam you will have to re-take it as soon as possible.

What is the dress code? The dress code for the workshops is business casual.

Do I need to provide Allianz with my assessment (coursework and

exam) results?

Yes. When you join the Allianz Scholarship Programme, you will be required to allow Allianz permission to access your assignment results through the CII. You can do this by contacting CII Customer Helpline.

Does Allianz pay for Diploma in Insurance mixed

assessment enrolments? Mixed assessment enrolments are funded by your employer.

How will reimbursement work on completion of the programme?

Where you successfully complete your studies and achieve your CII DiP within 18 months, £279 (2016 price) per Diploma coursework enrolment for M05 Insurance law, M92 Insurance business and finance, M85 Claims practice and M93 Commercial property and business interruption insurances is reimbursed on invoice from your firm.

Where you successfully complete your studies and achieve your CII Diploma in Insurance within 24 months, 50% of the cost of text books (excluding the cost of exams) is reimbursed on invoice from your firm. You must send us proof that you have achieved a CII Dip pass and we will verify this with CII.

We will reimburse costs via cheque or bank transfer, whichever your firm prefers. If you move firms while you are studying, we will only reimburse the firm you are employed by at the time of achieving your CII Diploma in Insurance and only up to the amount they have funded towards the cost of study texts, not the full amount.
