THE TYPES OF VACCINESAVAILABLE IN INDIAAer a tough year with the COVID-19 pandemic the wait for the vaccine is finally over. Here is everything you need to know about the vaccines and getting vaccinated.

● The Covaxin vaccine is made by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the National Institute of Virology (NIV) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

● The vaccine introduces the antigen protein into the body but does not cause an infection.

● The immune system forms a defence against these proteins and develops an immune response.

● This will enable the immune system to produce antibodies at a much faster rate and fight the virus if you do get infected.

● Covishield has been developed by the Serum Institute of India in collaboration with the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca.

● This vaccine also introduces the antigen protein into the body and also does not cause the disease.

● The vaccine triggers an immune response in the body just like the Covaxin vaccine.
