Taste of Carmel ~

The Taste of Carmel, one of the California Central Cost’s premier showcase food & wine events, is held in the courtyard of the gracious old Carmel Mission founded in 1770. Thirty-four outstanding Carmel restaurants will provide enticing and varied selections of appetizers, main courses and desserts, along with fine wines from 20 area vineyards. This year’s theme “Night at the Hop” encourages attendees to come in their best 50’s attire. Sample from the best restaurants and wineries in the area while listening to a DJ spinning records and playing golden oldies. There will be a silent auction featuring items and services from local businesses, plus classic cars from the 1950’s era will be on display. 33rd Annual Monterey Wine Festival ~

California's longest-running wine festival celebrates its 33rd anniversary beginning with the Grand Tasting at the Monterey Bay Aquarium at 7:30 pm on October 1st. The festivities continue at 5 pm on October 2nd at the Hyatt Regency Monterey with more newly released wines and past cellar favorites from 125 of Monterey's finest vineyards as well as samplings from wineries from Oregon, Washington, and Australia. The palate pleasers aren't limited to wines, however; gourmet food will also be offered to tickle the taste buds.

The Carmel Art and Film Festival ~

The Carmel Art and Film Festival is designed as a celebration of art in all its forms: painting, sculpture, printmaking, music, photography and film will all be repre-sented in our inaugural year. The mission of the festival is to put art in as many places as possible around Carmel, so that visitors will feel immersed in an artistic adventure. Coupled with the village’s breathtaking vistas, miles of sandy white beaches, world class hotels, restaurants and shopping, the festival, with its em-phasis on a wide variety of arts, offers out of town art lovers a truly unique weekend getaway and gives locals an excuse to renew their love affair with the area’s rich artistic tradition.

The Monterey Sports Car Championships ~

The Monterey Sports Car Championships featuring the American Le Mans Series race weekend concludes the 2009 season in dramatic fashion with the high-tech, high-speed Le Mans prototypes and GT machines of the American Le Mans Series staging a Saturday afternoon-into-evening four-hour race. Sunday’s action features the season finale of both the SPEED World Challenge Touring and GT series, the IMSA Challenge by Michelin, Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear and Cooper Tires Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda. Callaway Golf Beach Invitational ~

The Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational is golf's only head-to-head competition among PGA, LPGA, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour players for the same purse. As always, this 38th playing will be held on Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Del Monte Golf Course. The Invitational has a special charm for those who truly love to watch the game of golf played at its highest level. Small crowds are the norm and the fairways are open for spectators to walk down directly behind the players. Additionally, not only are the views of the golfers wide open and close-up, but getting to the course is easy, as parking is never a problem. 25th Annual Christmas in the Adobes ~

Holiday traditions and Monterey history merge in “Christmas in the Adobes” to be presented by California State Parks in association with the Old Monterey Pres-ervation Society. Hosts and Hostesses dressed in period costume will welcome visitors to nearly twenty participating adobes clustered in a five-block area. All are within walking distance for the self-guided tour Monterey’s historic buildings lit by luminaria, candle-light and enhanced with period Christmas decorations, musical entertainment and refreshments. Free parking is available at selected locations with your ticket purchase. Learn while you celebrate in each of these 19th century charming buildings, many of which are only open to the public and in the evening during this celebration. Special activities will be planned at the state parks to celebrate the 25th year.
