CELEBRATING THE 31st EDITIONON THE RUNWAY
Through the years, Amazon India Fashion Week has cultivated the
power of design on this extraordinary platform. Behind the buzzing,
blooming chaos of this convention is systemic change that we’re
trying to initiate within the industry. This year we meet again to
celebrate the 31st Edition of the Amazon India Fashion Week in
association with Nexa Autumn Winter 2018, scheduled from March
14-18 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
Style makers, renegades and new entrants will join hands to take this
journey forward on the runway and the exhibit area, forming a new
repository of ideas for the future of this country. It is this vigour that
drives us to render these presentations like never before each
time.
The Fashion Design Council of India, along with its Title
Sponsor Amazon.in and Associate Sponsor Nexa, substantiated
its efforts with support from Honor, Set Wet, Liva, Tom Tailor,
AIFW AW ’18
Indie Eye, Dyson, Pearl Academy and magazine partner Elle.
Towards the end of Amazon India Fashion Week — when the
glitterati head home, when the buzz wears down and when the

Chronicling more than two decades in fashion, the past has never
been so relevant in the future. Striving to tie two opposite ends
together; the 31st Edition of Amazon India Fashion Week in
association with Nexa Autumn Winter 2018 is a quest to prevail in
these unlikely times. From inventive handlooms to an overzealous
digital revolution, from finding authenticity in retrospectives to
changing show formats — this year we will be succinctly celebrating
all this and more.
We are also hoping to give impetus to many newfound talents while
acknowledging the style maestros, who have successfully chartered
new territories in the Indian fashion industry. It is this ingenuity that
we want to showcase to our domestic and international buyers, while
creating an experience that stays with everyone for years to come.
Taking this spirit forward, each day in the coming week will end
with the vibrancy of a grand show, instead of a grand finale, in order
to commemorate as many designers as possible.
We wouldn’t be able to achieve our goals without the support of the
governing board of the FDCI. I also want to extend my gratitude to

We are extremely humbled by the unprecedented response we have received

In the last four years or so, we are excited to have made significant headway in

Two decades ago, the Fashion Design Council of India, a non-profit
organisation, was at its nascent stage with an aim to empower our
design community, which now has over 400 members. It has not
only acted as a commercial linchpin — bridging the gap between
international and domestic buyers and designers — but has also
enabled all-rounded achievements for an industry that is striving to
make its mark locally and globally.
Today it has become an expansive organization, giving a bi-annual
platform to ready-to-wear along with India Couture Week to a
diverse set of professionals — models, makeup artists, designers,
choreographers and craftsmen. Even in these tumultuous times, the
FDCI has taken the difficult responsibility to lift the blinders and put
things in perspective for Indian fashion.
