AIESEC is the largest youth-led organization in the world and acts as a platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. The organization has over 86,000 members in 124 countries and territories, over 1 million alumni and has been active for 65 years. AIESEC has been endorsed and welcomed by world leaders including John. F Kennedy, Kofi Annan and Pope Paul VI. Notable alumni such as Nobel Peace Prize winner, Martti Ahtisaari and Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Monti have themselves been through AIESEC’s leadership development programs.

Remarkably, AIESEC is entirely run by students and recent graduates either during studies or in sabbatical roles. It’s not a business model that would work for everyone, but we love it and have done for 60+ years! In 2012, AIESEC facilitated 20,000 student traineeships and is on path to more than double this by 2015. In Iceland, AIESEC is an active student-run organization for 51 years, with offices in both University of Iceland and University of Reykjavík and is among other projects is running Framadagar every year.
