Table of Contents Our priorities for the first three months were to: 1) Enhance the team member experience, 2) Create sustainable systems, processes, and materials, and 3) Change the mindset of our membership. We believed the combination of these three priorities would not only cultivate the development of our membership, but also facilitate the growth of exchange.

Our goal for 2012 is to facilitate 127 exchanges. As monumental as the goal is, the most important achievement we strive to have is impact. The Executive Board knew that it was only by changing the mindset of our members that they would go the extra mile and strive to achieve impact within AIESEC Baruch, Baruch College, all of New York City, and the world. In the last three months, I am proud to say that we have achieved growth, and sustainable growth.

I feel so lucky to be working with 60 change agents. Without your support, guidance, and encouragement, I would not be who I am today. Keep striving for excellence. Keep challenging yourself by going the extra mile. Keep creating impact. You inspire me every day.

Most importantly, don’t forget to follow your heart.

With all of the love in the world,

Tala Mansi

Letter from the President

I have undoubtedly learned more about leadership, about people, and about myself than I would have ever imagined. Something I have realized throughout this experience thus far is that the bigger you dream, the higher the mountain is to climb. The higher you go, the steeper the mountain gets. Before 2012 started, the other members of the Executive Board and I knew that we had a challenge ahead of us. We knew that AIESEC Baruch was at a tipping point. The responsibility we had in our hands was great. The decisions we needed to make had to be bold. The execution had to be flawless. Change in behavior always has an insight that develops into a practice, which then develops into a habit. We believed that success would only be achieved if excellence and quality were habitual. It is only by challenging the status quo, by going against everything you once knew as conventional, and by going the extra mile that you create impact. This is what we set out to do, as a team.

It’s been exactly 92 days as President of AIESEC Baruch. 92 days of challenges, tribulations, successes, failures, laughs, tears, and love. I’m profoundly moved. Luckily, I get an extra day; it’s leap year. I came into my term with high hopes, dreams, and zeal to begin the journey of growing AIESEC Baruch.

Outgoing Exchange To begin this quarter, the Outgoing Exchange Team implemented a new middle-management system consisting of three subgroups: the External Team, the Internal Team, and the Project Development Team. The External Team works primarily with EPs within Baruch, the External Team works with EPs primarily outside of Baruch, and the Project Management Team specializes in partnerships that have been created, mostly through the AIESEC US Member Committee. This system ensures that each EP Manager has the proper expertise to help their EPs get matched with the most suitable TN. First Quarter Results In the first quarter, OGX received over ninety applications to go abroad this summer. This has resulted in over sixty raised EPs, and over ten of these EPs have been matched so far. In addition, we have worked with the Communications Team to increase recruitment efforts by producing an Intern Abroad Promotional Video. This video has been circulated on AIESEC Baruch’s Facebook page and on Vimeo.

Second Quarter Prospects OGX’s main goal for the next quarter is to target and match graduating seniors for whom a long-term TN would be suitable. We also plan to host an EP social event which will allow the EPs to become more integrated into the AIESEC culture. The OGX Team is dedicated to changing as many lives as possible, and the team’s endless determination and love for AIESEC are evident in the first quarter’s results.

Message from the Vice President:

Incoming Exchange This was AIESEC Baruch’s first quarter with a combined Incoming Exchange Team, consisting of Account Delivery and Business Development. With these changes in structure also came changes in strategy. A brand new in-depth tracking system has been implemented to allow the ICX Directors to conduct market research on leads and to track member results. The target market has also been segmented into three main categories for New York City - Finance, Information Technology, and Marketing/Advertising/Public Relations. Finally, ICX finalized the LC’s Chamber of Commerce application and AIESEC Baruch is now a full member of the Greater State of New York Chamber of Commerce, giving it access to over 16,000 businesses and civic leaders.

First Quarter Results In January and February, the Business Development Team fell short of its goals for leads and meetings generated. However, March was a stronger month. BD implemented a new strategy of weekly sales blitzes, in which all team members make calls together, and this resulted in fourteen meetings in March alone. Although this was slight short of March’s goal, it is a sizeable improvement over the first two months of the quarter. Furthermore, BD has reached

its goal for official raises, with four TN’s raised and three additional training plans currently in the works. Of the four raised, three have been matched, and one has been realized. We expect to have the other two matches become realized by the first week of quarter two. This quarter, the Account Delivery Team successfully received one trainee for Quacquarelli Symonds, a company which runs events and produces information guides for postgraduate around the world. AD has also successfully completed the visa process for a second Quacquarelli Symonds intern and a Brooks Brothers intern, a contract that was re-raised from last year. These trainees will be given newly formulated reception information packets, personalized for each trainee based on their job and their housing locations.

Second Quarter Prospects Overall, the Incoming Exchange Team is focused on following through with all of its current opportunities with companies and on developing new ones. This strategy should result in many more TN’s raised in the next quarter and additional, fantastic receptions.

Communications Talent ManagementFirst Quarter Results During this quarter, we created a Stakeholder Database to track all of the LC’s externals and to measure our engagement with them. We also began publishing an Alumni Newsletter, in an effort to increase alumni engagement with AIESEC Baruch. Positioning has generated 3 newsletter, 2 business card, and 3 brochure templates, uploaded 3 online videos to convey the AIESEC message, and created 7 marketing campaigns. We built a stronger social media presence through Facebook, Twitter, TweetDeck, Vimeo, and Tumblr, collected AIESEC testimonials and increased AIESEC Baruch’s on-campus presence. In order to communicate AIESEC’s underlying message of exchange and to foster relationships with other organizations, the Communications Team also held two on-campus panelist events featuring Mitchell Wallerstein, President of Baruch College and Carl Spielvogel, former U.S. Ambassador to the Slovak Republic. The Communications Team is also a support system for other teams, especially in promoting new member recruitment and exchange. This quarter COMM helped Talent Management hold two information sessions for new membership, resulting in 24 applicants for membership.

Message from the Vice President:First Quarter Results Talent Management hit the ground running during the first quarter of 2012, and the first objective was new member recruitment. Member recruitment was kicked off with strategic talent planning and the creation of member profiles. We planned for 11 new members and achieved that exact number after receiving 24 applications, and conducting 18 interviews. After a successful induction ceremony and full newbie attendance at the spring Northeast Regional Kick-Off Seminar, the TM team was ready to move forward. After recruitment, TM focused heavily on member tracking and member education. This first initiative was achieved by monitoring individual members’ LC participation and engagement in regards to internal and external events. Another important area of tracking was seeing who applied to leadership roles. The education focus of Talent Management was based on weekly General Member Meetings (GMM) and a LC mentoring system. GMMs consisted of LC trainings, visits from externals, such as the Thunderbird School of Management, and a team building exercise.

Message from the Vice President:

24 Applicants for New Membership 11 New Members 17 Leadership Positions

The mentor system, which is for new members from the past two semesters, was aimed at integrating members into the AIESEC Baruch culture and developing their professional and personal skills. This past quarter there were seven newbie mentors for 10 newbies.

Second Quarter Prospects Using the tracked results from Q1, TM will create a full analysis of the LC’s HR capacity, in order to assess bottlenecks within each team and the LC as a whole. After identifying bottlenecks, we will meet with each team and deliver specialized trainings geared toward personal development and professional etiquette. Another initiative of ours is to reach out and develop relationships with other organizations that align with our values. This will expand AIESEC Baruch’s awareness for global issues and help us to stay relevant and active in current causes. Talent Management is also planning a mid-semester retreat for Q2, which will guide our LC in terms of engagement, relevance and innovation.

COMM helped OGX market for nine information sessions, and create a virtual information session, resulting in 92 applications and over 10 matches so far. Finally, Communications constructed a new intranet system using Dropbox and Podio, which gives the entire LC easy access to general resources, information and procedural manuals.Second Quarter Prospects In Q2 the Communications Team’s goal is to maintain relationships with our stakeholders, increase our network, and build our external presence. We aim to show AIESEC’s relevance with current issues hosting another on-campus event, and work with organizations and causes that align with AIESEC’s values. We wil finalize our external website and continue to showcase AIESEC through endorsements and testimonials. In the next quarter we aim to understand our market - conducting survey research, analyzing our social media trends. Communications Team will remain a support function - continuing to market our exchange program until we reach our goals, creating and designing brand aligned materials for Finance and Incoming Exchange, and expanding our reach outside of Baruch College Campus

Message from the Vice President:Finance

First Quarter Results The first quarter of 2012 began with the Controlling Team introducing a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with the goal of streamlining and expediting the process of reimbursements. These SOPs have successfully shortened the time from when an expense occurs to reimbursement and there is consensus among LC members that there is transparency in this process. Controlling also focused heavily on bringing the accounting software Quickbooks into use and a prototype has been launched.

The External Funding Team began a new venture this quarter by heading AIESEC Baruch’s new corporate social responsibility project. This project will be funded with grants from outside organizations and the External Funding Team enrolled in specific classes at the Foundation Center to learn about proposal writing and to access a database of potential donors. By the time this report is published, the first proposal will have been sent out.

The Business Planning & Analysis Team worked hard to create the first quarterly report for AIESEC Baruch. This consisted of establishing and tracking new KPIs for every team in the LC and

working with the Communications Team to design a professional and sustainable template. BP&A has also taken on the role of creating two other types of reports. The first is a report of on campus events that the LC holds, analyzing everything from the expenses incurred to the operational efficiency, and then determining returns on investment. The second report is a monthly analysis of the entire LC, which details each team’s targets and results achieved, and helps ensure accountability at all levels.

Second Quarter Prospects The Finance team has already set into motion great things in Q1 and we hope to continue with the same momentum as we roll into Q2. Successes from Q1 will be capitalized upon while corrective measures for mistakes are being taken along the way.
