Deuteronomy 4:24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever, is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise dwell [think] on these things.

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 119:11 Your Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You.

INTROMatthew 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

God wants to be our top priority! Seeking God’s Kingdom FIRST means that we will PRIORITIZE! (Big word for putting things in order of importance.) God’s commands, God’s desires, and God’s love should all be at the center of what we are and what we desire!

Turn to God FIRST for help. Let God’s Word fill your thoughts. Serve God and obey Him.

When we put God FIRST, He will give us true success in life.

With Jesus as my Captain, my life has new direction!

A Pirate’s AdventureAPRIL 5-11

Read Colossians 2:2-4; 6-7 ...that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, CHRIST Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.

Romans 12:1-2 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

ONEII Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

I’m Storin’ Up Some Treasure

APRIL 12-18

Read Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

TWOMatthew 6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.

Storing up treasures is not just about money. Yes, it is important that we tithe and use our money to further the gospel. Storing up “treasures in heaven” happens when everything we do is in obedience to God. The motive and intent of our hearts should be to fulfill God’s purpose for all that we do.

Polly sings about storing up treasures. She sings HOW we

I will treasure God’s Word.

Blessed is the OneAPRIL 19-25

Read Proverbs 3:1-9 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones. Honor the LORD from your wealth and from the first of all your produce;

Psalm 119:11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You.

James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

THREEProverbs 3:13 & 14 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding; for her profit is better than the profit of silver and her gain better than fine gold.

Wisdom means “practical discernment.” Discernment is the ability to make wise decisions in difficult circumstances. (Example: You are at a friend’s house playing video games. Your friend has a game that you know your parents would not want you to play because of the content. What will you do? Using WISDOM, God will remind you [Ephesians 6:1 that you hid in your heart] that you should obey your parents and you will not play that game.) Wisdom begins with a respect for God and leads to living the right way, and then results in an increased ability to tell right from wrong. (As you get older, there will be more decisions where you need lots of wisdom.) God is willing to give us wisdom, but if we are self-centered, we will not be able to receive that wisdom. In order to learn God’s will and receive His wisdom, we must READ God’s Word regularly.

I am loved and treasured by God!

GoldMAY 3-9

Read 2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

Deuteronomy 7:6 For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

Matthew 18:2-6 And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and  become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.  Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me;  but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

Psalm 139:14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works and my soul knows it very well.

FIVE2 Thessalonians 2:13b God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

God has chosen us out of His goodness and grace to be a part of HIS treasured possession. “Beloved” means constantly being loved personally by God. “Sanctification” is the process of Christian growth in which the Holy Spirit helps us to be more like Christ. God LOVES you. He has chosen you and values all boys and girls. Just look in the verse! He told everyone not to hinder a child from coming to him.

So many times other people try to make us feel unloved or even unwanted. Those people are completely wrong according to God’s word. Others sometimes try to put “labels” on children. But think about this—who labels the Coke products? The ones who created the Coca-Cola. Who labels the clothes and shoes you wear? The one who created the clothing line or the shoe line. Get the idea? Who is the only One Who can put a label on you? Your Creator and Maker, Who IS God! What label does God put on you?

1. You are PRECIOUS (Isaiah 43:4a)2. You are UNIQUE (Psalm 139:14)3. You are FAVORED (Psalm 5:12)4. You are BLESSED (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)5. You are LOVED (John 3:16)

Draw a picture of yourself in the open space and put God’s “label” on yourself!

The Pearl ofGreat Price

MAY 10-16

Read I Corinthians 6:20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

Hebrews 10:10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

SIXMatthew 13:45-46 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

In our musical, Captain Fisher explains how he used to be a pirate, but because of a bad storm, his ship sank. He was able to float at sea for several days, thinking about his life, and finally washed up on an island. There was old fisherman who told him how Jesus paid a very great price by giving His life for ours. Captain Fisher gave his life to Jesus and decided to become a “fisher of men.” Even though the Captain had lost all his treasures when the ship sank, he managed to keep the most beautiful and valuable pearl he had ever seen. He used that pearl to buy the island so that he could help others find Heavenly Treasure!

God gave us what He valued most—JESUS! God sees us and loves us and values each person more than any jewel—even a pearl of great value—and offered Jesus as a sacrifice to pay for our sins. What does the chorus of the song say?

pay for that sin? He values you and wants to “purchase & redeem” you. All you have to do is accept His free gift of salvation!

Do you believe this Scripture? You can pray right now to receive Jesus:

Dear Jesus, Thank You for making a way for me to be saved and have eternal life in Heaven. I admit that I am a sinner and only You can save me from my sin. I believe that You died on the cross and rose from the dead to save me. I confess my sin and ask for Your forgiveness. Please forgive me from my sin and come into my heart and save me. I give You my heart. Thank You for the free gift of eternal life. I pray that I will learn more about You every day and follow Your way. Thank You Jesus for the gift of salvation. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

“For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

What I say and what I do reflects my heart, too.

Time Will TellMAY 17-23

Read Proverbs 27:19 As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects man.

Luke 6:45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

SEVENMatthew 6:21 ...for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Have you ever seen the reflection of your face or even scenery in a pond or lake? I have. Sometimes it is so clear that telling the difference between the reflection and the real thing is difficult. Our hearts will reflect what and who we truly are. If we fill our heart with good and godly treasures, it will show in what we say and what we do. The same is true if our treasures are of the world. I grew up hearing a saying, “Garbage in, garbage out.”

As a family, sit down with your schedule or calendar for the week. Look at how you are spending your time. How much time will you do the following things?

Work/School__________________ Play/Video Games___________

Sleep_________________________ Watch TV___________________

Attend Sporting Events________ Do Homework_______________

Time at Church_______________ Devotion Time______________

Talk about ways you can make sure that the things you DO reflect your love of God and desire to grow in your relationship with Him. Work, school, homework, and sleep are all necessities in life.

23

Page 24: AHOY, Mateys! Welcome to Treasure Island - where we will ... · AHOY, Mateys! Welcome to Treasure Island - where we will seek Heavenly treasures! Aye, in our upcoming musical, the

It is not a sin to watch TV, attend or play in sporting events, or participate in extra-curricular activities. HOWEVER, if watching TV, attending sporting events, etc, take PRIORITY over being a part of church or spending time in God’s Word, then adjustments should be made. Does what you watch on TV help you obey Philippians 4:8? Remember, “Garbage in, garbage out!”

Pray this week that God will help you and your family make choices that reflect Godly wisdom. “What I value will be plain to see; what I treasure there my heart will be!”

The greatest treasure is knowing Jesus!

Amen! The Treasureof Heaven is Alive!

MAY 24-30

Read Romans 6:9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.

I Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Mark 16:6 He is risen; He is not here.

Luke 24:5-6 Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here; He is risen.

EIGHTRevelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Jesus Christ—the Treasure of Heaven—died for us, but He did not stay in the grave. He IS risen! He now is in heaven waiting for us to live with Him for eternity. Only He is the Almighty One! Death has no power over Jesus. His resurrection gives us a living hope. Our inheritance is waiting (reserved) for us in Heaven. We can sing and worship and praise His name. AMEN!

Prayer FocusAs you write your prayers each day, remember to be specific. God loves for us to pray intentionally and specifically for others, thanking Him for specific blessings, confessing specific sins, and asking for specific needs. If you have difficulty thinking of these on your own, here are a few ideas that may help you. Remember that God loves to hear you pray! Take time to talk to Him each day, and share with Him whatever is in your heart.
