AESTHETICALLY FUNCTIONAL OPERABLE FACADES

OPERABLE GLASS LOUVRES 3

Custom designed operable glass louvres are an excellent option for building facades,

apartment balconies, internal office screens or partitions, outdoor entertaining spaces and

in public bars and entertainment facilities. With AGP operable glass louvre systems, the

potential applications are limitless.

AGP first developed its frameless glass louvre system for

the Macquarie Apartments project in Sydney, completed in

2001. The architect, Renzo Piano, had a grand vision for a

completely frameless glass louvre facade overlooking the

Royal Botanic Gardens and AGP, in conjunction with Bovis

Lend Lease and Arup, proceeded to redefine the frameless

glass louvre market in Australia.

This project spawned the AGP Fullview Series operable

glass louvre system, which apart from the striking facade it

created, provided wintergarden spaces for each apartment,

giving the occupants environmentally beneficial natural

ventilation alternatives and the ability to use these outdoor

space all year round.

From this initial design, in 2002 AGP developed the more

practical and cost effective Fineline Series louvre system, by

replacing the structural glass fins with aluminium mullions,

enclosing most of the linkage mechanisms, for a more

streamlined system.

Reacting to market requests for a more weather resistant

louvre facade, the Fineline-XT system was created in 2003

and opened up many new applications for frameless glass

louvres, as well as the benefit of smoke ventilation that has

seen it used in many large commerial buildings. In 2007,

the Fineline-XTS system was developed with The Buchan

Group to for the prestigious Lucient Apartments project in

Melbourne.

And most recently in 2012 AGP has created a simpler and

more cost effective frameless glass louvre design, called

Centaline, which can be installed within existing mullion

systems, and can be manually operated or motorised.

PRODUCT RANGE

Fineline Series

A louvre screen system suitable for apartment wintergardens.

Featuring streamlined aluminium RHS mullions, with the glass louvres

opening up within, and an integrated glass balustrade system.

Fineline-XT Series

A closed louvre system suitable for an extensive range of

applications. The glass louvres close onto bulb seals on the face of

the mullions, with rubbers seals along the glass edges.

Fineline-XTS Series

The newest louvre system, developed with The Buchan Group for

Lucient Apartments in Melbourne. The lower operable louvre opens

down to provide double the clear viewing space.

Centaline Series

AGP’s newest operable louvre system available in manual and

motorised versions. A more cost effective design developed with

Mirvac for Era Apartments in Chatswood, this system features

centre-pivotted louvre blades supported with polycarbonate endcaps.

AGP Fineline Series operable glass louvres maximise the amount of

all year round liveable space, with the added bonus of providing a

striking facade presence.

With AGP Fineline louvres the Individual users are able to choose between opening up a space

to the natural environment during pleasant weather, or closing it off when protection from

inclement weather is required.

The operable glass louvres are supported by vertical aluminium mullions that have the

operation mechanisms contained within, for safety and protection from the weather. Hiding the

mechanisms within the mullions also gives the system a neat, clean and attractive appearance.

The AGP Fineline-XT operable glass louvre system

is a revolution in frameless glass louvre technology,

providing an elegant frameless design that doesn’t

compromise the practical requirements of a weather

resistant louvre system.

Continually looking at ways to improve their operable facades, AGP

has taken the Fineline Series louvres and designed additional weather

protection features to provide a system better suited for protection from

inclement weather.

Developed over many years the AGP Fineline-XT Series is, in our opinion,

the best possible balance of form and function, being as close to

weatherproof as can be achieved with frameless glass louvres. Horizontal

weather protection between each louvre blade is achieved by fitting a

bulb seal to the bottom edge of each louvre blade.

A bottom louvre opening in the opposite

direction makes the Fineline-XTS system

ideal for apartment wintergardens.

A variation to the Fineline-XT, the Fineline-XTS operable glass

louvres feature a special mechanism within the mullions that

allows the top operable louvres to open upwards while the

bottom operable louvres open downwards (as opposed to all

louvres opening and closing in the same direction).

This provides a greater clear opening space in the vision area

whilst still providing weather protection.

CENTALINE series

AGP’s newest operable louvre system suitable

for a wide range of applications and suitable

as a standalone system or integrated into

a building’s curtain wall facade to provide

a seamless, elegent and practical natural

ventilation system.

In conjunction with construction company Mirvac, for one of their apartment developments, AGP developed a new frameless glass centre-pivoted louvre system to provide a cost effective wintergarden screen to some of the apartment balconies.

AGP Centaline uses polycarbonate louvre arms with an external linkage mechanism. This allows the system to be manually operated and can be installed off any type of mullion framing system. Large glass louvre spans up to 1500mm can be achieved using 12mm toughened or toughened laminated glass.

A motorised version is also available with a linear actuator mounted off the back of the louvre mullion and connected to the external linkage mechnanism.
