EQUIPMENT LOCATION DURATION 1 HOUR GROUP SIZE 7-12 COACHING NOTES: COACHING NOTES: GS PLAY A HALF COURT GAME ACTIVITY 5 - HELD BALL CHALLENGE Every time a defender achieves a held ball, the opposite team will have a point attributed to them These points turn in to a sprint activity at the end of the game 1 point equals a 5 metre sprint. DICTATE AND DENY ACTIVITY 2 (W1) and (W3) move forward one at a time, dodging to get past (D1/D4) and (D2/D3) Once finished they swap sides with (W2) and (W4) who is repeating on the other side of court Defenders must stay in the allocated space either in front or behind cones ACTIVITY 1 Set up 4 cones in box (W1) is moving in the box sprinting between cones, forward, back, side to side and diagonally Eyes and body facing forward watching (W2) Call out the colour flash card they are holding up or fingers on hand. PLAY A HALF COURT GAME

ACTIVITY 5 - HELD BALL CHALLENGE• Every time a defender achieves a held ball, the opposite team will

have a point attributed to them • These points turn in to a sprint activity at the end of the game• 1 point equals a 5 metre sprint.

DICTATE AND DENY

ACTIVITY 2• (W1) and (W3) move forward one at a

time, dodging to get past (D1/D4) and (D2/D3)

• Once finished they swap sides with (W2) and (W4) who is repeating on the other side of court

FIRST PHASE: MOVEMENT

ACTIVITY 4• 4 on 4 with a line/cones splitting court in middle• (A1) starts with ball • All attackers must receive 2 passes to complete then reset • Attackers can keep possession using the “Attacker Safe Area” if needed but

those passers will not count • They must complete the 8 passes where defenders are positioned• Defenders to stay in designated area and pick up any incoming attacker• Repeat 4 times then swap defenders and attackers• Progress where a swap takes place on infringement ie: Held Ball or intercept

ACTIVITY 5 –TEAM CHALLENGE• Challenge the team to a points system:

• 3 points for a held ball• 2 points for an intercept• 1 point for a tip and chase

ACTIVITY 1• One defender (D1) with

two workers (W1) and (W2)

• (D1) uses running steps to deny movement and keep (W1) from entering to areas 2, 3 or 4

• Workers must reach areas 2,3 and 4 three times each

• Use “QUALITY DENY and DICTATE” position

• Communicate with all defenders

• React earlier with movement by slightly coming of their body and being ready to go with running steps not bouncing on the balls of your feet

• Stay alert and be ready to deny early.

• Defenders deciding which space the attacker can have, if any!

ACTIVITY 2• Mark out 4 cones in a box• (T1) with a ball • (A1) must receive a pass in the

square and then lead out of square to safe areas

• (D1) quickly meets (A1) to deny movement and dicate where they can move, gaining an intercept

ACTIVITY 3• Two groups with a ball each • (A1) in front space receives from (T1),

passes to (A2) then to (T2) on base line• Defender to deny movement of attacker in

back space• (A1) must keep possesion until (A2) is free

by passing back to thrower• Repeat opposite direction from base line• Add more defence.

• Communicate loudly with team mates to sight the ball

• Be alert and ready to anticipate where the ball is going

• Be first to restrict movement • Be relentless do not put

your heels to the ground keep when dictating and denying

pass in the square and then lead out of square to safe areas

ball and a line in middle of third

• (T2) and (T3) stationary on base line and circle edge

• (A1) and (A2) stay in their half of the third, same with (D1) and (D2)

• (A1) receives pass from (T1) and continually passes to (T2) up and down third for 6 passes or unless (D1) intercepts, or there is a held ball

• (T1) then swaps to (A2)• Repeat three times• Next four ready to change to

keep intensity

ACTIVITY 4• Three throwers (T1), (T2) and (T3) positioned around the goal third• (C) centre player starts with the ball • Attacking team must pass 8 times before they can have an attempt at

shooting• If attackers cannot pass to each other they can pass to (T2) or (T3) to

reset• If intercepted, held ball or reset to throwers, players have to start

counting again• Reverse with (GK) taking a throw in on the base line, the defensive

team must pass 6 times before they can pass to (T1), attackers to deny and dictate movement
