WHAT IS AGBM.COM?

Agoodblackman.com (AGBM.com) is an actual web site on The Internet. This site was conceived, designed, created and launched (and continues to be maintained) by author/entrepreneur, D. Anne Browne in response to the criticism, “there are no good black men.”

The motivation behind the construction of this site is to first, silence the critics. Second, it is to provide a place on the planet for Black males to go where they will not be criticized unkindly, persecuted unjustly or judged unfairly.

AGBM.com wants to hear about and from the countless numbers of Black males out there who have devoted their lives to building strong communities, families and relationships. We want to help those Black males who have positive messages to convey.

So, if you have a funny, touching, thought provoking, positive story to tell about your brother, husband, son, friend or self, we want to hear it. We want to celebrate it.

WHAT IS AGBM, INC.?

A Good Black Man, Incorporated is a non-profit organization committed to using technology (through its Legacy of Excellence Program) as a tool to help 11-13 year old African American males with developing a clear sense of their attributes, talents, goals and attitudes to enhance their self-image, self-esteem and character.

Part of our mission is to develop an expansive collaboration of resources and information specific to uplifting, educating, honoring and empowering Black male youth. We strive to re-educate young Black males on the premise that of all the things you can shape, condition, develop, improve, enhance and strengthen, the most important is your mind by using The Internet and related technologies to:

Enhance the educational experience of Legacy of Excellence Program participants.

Help Black males define and achieve their goals.

Help Black males gather critical information and gain insight.

Provide Legacy of Excellence Program participants with a virtual forum for documenting the positive stories of their lives and communities.

To provide a networking forum to offer support, an exchange of ideas, and a bonding between those with the same positive image of Black males.

OUR MISSION

Our activities are designed to create a virtual safe haven void of the unkind criticism, persecution and degradation sadly too often seen in the media and society at large. Through our LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM MODULES, we provide a variety of images, narratives and culturally relevant material that portrays Black males in positive roles and encourages Black males to cast themselves in such roles. We combine classroom activities with the utilization of www.agoodblackman.com as a vehicle for self-exploration and career exposure - allowing us to address some of the issues created by The Digital Divide.

AGBM, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization whose mission is to enhance the life options for African American male youth and provide a global forum to dispel the myth that “there are no good Black men.”

WE USE THE INTERNET AND RELATED TECHNOLOGIES AS A TOOL TO HELP YOUNG BLACK MALES WITH DEVELOPING A CLEAR SENSE OF THEIR ATTRIBUTES, TALENTS, GOALS AND ATTITUDES IN ORDER TO ENHANCE THEIR SELF-IMAGE, SELF ESTEEM AND CHARACTER.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?• VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME

• MAKE A TAX- DEDUCTABLE CONTRIBUTION

• BECOME A MENTOR

• SPONSOR AN AGBM, INC. ACTIVITY

We are trying our best to enhance the life-options and life-opportunities for hundreds of Black male youth in Baltimore where the dropout, incarceration and homicide rates for them are the highest in the country. AGBM, Inc. finds these outcomes unacceptable for our young men.

So, we are resolved to do everything within our power to support and assist our young men by providing them with the resources and the information they need to improve both their personal lives and economic outcomes. We firmly believe that a partnership with you would serve as an effective and inspiring campaign to help save our male youth. We hope very much that you will be able to say, "yes" to this request and thank you in advance for your consideration.
