• Do not touch downed power lines or objects in contact with downed lines. If there is flooding present in your house, do not turn the power back on.

• If it is dark when you are inspecting your home, use a flashlight. DO NOT use matches until all gas lines are checked for leaks.

Document and take pictures of any damages. Keep a detailed record of all repairs

and emergency actions you take. If your home is uninhabitable due to storm damage and you must seek other lodging, keep all your receipts.

Read the Fine Print

Read the fine print of anything you are asked to sign when getting quotes and discussing repairs. Some contractors may request you sign an Assignment of Benefits (AOB), which is basically transferring your claim interest over to them.
