FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY 30 May 2021 AFTER ACTION REPORT 1.Assembly #3004 conducted a Flag Retirement ceremony at Our Lady of An- gels Catholic Church on Sunday 30 May 2021 at 1 PM. Over 200 U.S. flags were respectfully retired. The Squire Roses from St. Francis and Squires from All Saints also participated in the event. 2. Preparation of the flags and set up for the ceremony commenced at 1:00 PM. 3. Ceremony was conducted starting at 1:00 pm with an opening prayer from Deacon SK Coy Pierce. FN Jim Freedle led the ceremony. Worthy Color Corps Commander SK Joe Donahue led the Color Corps consisting of our Worthy District Master SK Ken Franch, SK Dan Eckelkamp, SK Angel Amaro, and SK James Bailey. The flag remnants were taken outside to the burn barrel for disposal by the servers under the supervision of SK Tim Frank, SK Sean Bannerman, SK Troy Scheffman, and SK Gary McGinnis. District Master SK Ken Franch provided comments about patriotism prior to the closing prayer. Deacon SK Coy Pierce provided a closing prayer to con- clude the ceremony. 4. 46 individuals were in attendance to the Flag Retirement Ceremony. 5. Refreshments were enjoyed by the attendees and the event was concluded at 2:15 pm after cleanup and dousing of flames. 6. Thank you to everyone who participated and attended the ceremony. 1.Assembly #3004 conducted a Flag Retirement ceremony at Our Lady of An-

Religious ceremonies involving open flames: Section 308.1.7 of the International Fire Code: Religious ceremonies: When in the opinion of the fire code official,

adequate safeguards have been taken, participants in religious ceremonies are allowed to carry hand-held candles. Hand-held candles shall not be passed from one person to another while lighted. Section 308.7.1 Aisles and exits. Candles shall be prohibited in areas where occupants stand, or in aisle or exit.

An outdoor fire burning materials other than rubbish where the fuel being burned is not contained in an incinerator,

outdoor fireplace, barbeque grill, or barbeque pit and has a total fuel area of 3 feet or less in diameter and 2 feet or

less in height for pleasure, religious, ceremonial, cooking, warmth or similar purposes. Note: Recreational fires shall be in accordance with IFC Fire Code Section 307.3.2. Persons burning material

that is lawfully permitted to be burned shall comply with the following requirements: * Recreational fires shall not be conducted with 25 feet of a structure or combustible material. * Conditions which could cause a fire to spread within 25 feet of a structure shall be eliminated prior to ignition. * SUPERVISION: Any authorized and permitted burning shall be constantly attended by a designated person(s) approved by the Fire Department. The fire shall be constantly attended until the fire is extinguished. A minimum of one fire extinguisher rated at least 4-A or other approved on-site fire-extinguishing equipment shall be available for immediate utilization.
