HERBAL (MEDICINAL) PRODUCTS, FOOD SUPPLEMENTS AND SELF-CARE MEDICAL DEVICES

PAVING THE WAY TOWARDS A COHERENT SYSTEM

Page 2: AESGP Conference October

Objectives of the conference 2014 is an important year in the EU agenda. Following the election to the European Par-liament in May, a new President of the Euro-pean Commission will be appointed in July. By the end of October all new Commission-ers are expected to be nominated. While some progress has been made over the last years in the development of a Euro-pean legislative framework in the fields of herbal medicinal products and food supple-ments, a number of key issues remain non-harmonised and are likely to be on the

agenda of the new European Commission and the new European Parliament. The AESGP conference on 7 and 8 October 2014 will be an excellent opportunity to take stock of the achievements made and what could or should be addressed in the next five years. The conference will also provide an update on the expected changes for the legislation on medical devices that are likely to be final-ly agreed upon in 2015.
