According to the latest ARC population estimates, the 10-county Atlanta region* added some 52,700 people between April 1, 2013, and April 1, 2014, a sure sign that the economic recovery is continuing. While not as robust as growth during the boom years of the 1990s and early 2000s, this growth is greater than last year’s, and puts the region’s total population at 4,272,300, a number that is larger than the populations of 24 states.

“The Atlanta region’s job growth is on the rise,” said Mike Alexander, manager of ARC’s Research & Analytics Division. “Because the Atlanta region is an attractive place for employers and employees, we tend to attract people from all over the country, creating more in-migration than out-migration.” All 10 counties experienced growth during the year. Cherokee County added 4,200, Henry County 3,200, Douglas County 1,300, Fayette County 1,300, Rockdale County 1,200 and Clayton County 1,000. The City of Atlanta’s growth trend also continued, with the city adding 4,100 people, driven in large part by new multi-family developments and an influx of young professionals.

Henry County is a growing and thriving community with more than 200,000 residents, and in the 5th District of Henry County, that growth, progress and change has been propelled by citizens, businesses and local government working together.

The Fairview area is expected to be one of the fastest growing areas in the County over the next few years. The Fairview Road widening project will help to meet that demand. As one of the biggest transportation projects remaining on Henry County's SPLOST III project list, it consists of widening nearly two miles of roadway to four lanes, from Anvil Block Road to just beyond the intersection of Panola and Fairview roads.

More than 200 people came out to celebrate the start of the Fairview Road widening project and the Fairview Medical Center. Together, these two projects will improve access to healthcare, stimulate commerce in the area and improve commute times for citizens.

Upon completion, the Fairview Medical Center is projected to employ over 1,300 people directly and indirectly, with an estimated economic impact of $185 million.

As part of my vision to transform Henry County's District 5 into a "health and wellness community," this road will also be the first in the County to include the installation of eight foot wide, multi-use paths on both sides of the road.

Additionally, Henry County has been working in conjunction with the PATH Foundation on developing a design and layout for a trail to run from Panola State Park to Austin Road, a much anticipated and popular amenity for the community.

There are also several fully-funded community projects that will bring value to the area and medical complex. Recently approved SPLOST IV Projects for North Henry County include:

The two projects together will:

Quality of life improvements are just the start of my long range goal to establish a 'Health and Wellness Community' in North Henry. The community, both private and business, have shown great support and pride and, to that point, I simply say, 'the best is yet to come.'

Signify a new economic era in Henry County and the southern region of Atlanta Re-brand the Fairview community Stimulate positive growth in the southern crescent Provide capital investment, job creation, beautification and walking & bike trails

Page 31: Aerotropolis Presentation

Henry County also recently contracted with The Collaborative Firm to develop an Overlay District for the community. The overlay district will: Create standards for the Fairview area Maintain the appeal and consistency of the business community to help brand the

area Create an inviting appeal as you enter Henry County

Page 32: Aerotropolis Presentation

Judging by the turnout for the groundbreaking ceremony, citizens are very excited to see these two projects get

underway as well as witness the transformation of North Henry County.

"We'll provide vital healthcare services to a medically underserved community recognizing that there are over 400 fewer physicians than needed in the Henry County region. And we will work diligently to alleviate this shortage which will benefit the residents of the community,“ stated Dr. Greg Daniel, CEO of Nidus Development.
