Most articles continued to be published within six months of their ac- ceptance. There are exceptions, when questions arise after acceptance and long delays result in resolving the problems. Total number of pages decreased by 80 over the past fiscal year. The number of articles decreased by four (4) and News and Reviews decreased by nine (9). The first Short Communication article was published during the year. Total reprints decreased by 1,000. There were two postal rate increases during the year. An in-county in- crease is scheduled for July, but there should be little effect on Journal mail- ing costs. Respectfully submitted, Ronald Knight Business Editor ADVERTISING MANAGER'S REPORT Advertising revenue increased from $3,463 to $4,673 and lineage from 28 ½ to 35 IA pages. Chemical companies continued to do the bulk of advertising, placing 24½ pages of ads. Other advertisers seem to be looking at the Journal with more and more favor, however. Agdia, Inc., a new company, placed six two- color ads (full page) for its potato disease test kits. We attracted two ads from the Netherlands for potato handling equipment. Full-page Maine seed potato ads, position announcements, and smaller display ads round out the picture. Promotional material continues to be sent to companies considered to be advertising prospects. There are many inquiries about advertising in the Journal, and each is answered in detail. Several advertising agencies have requested information, which continues to be a hopeful sign.
