Tech and Field Program

Page 2: Adventure Starts Here - Schlumberger

Innovative. Adventurous. Tech-Savvy. Driven.

Our Tech and Field Program is home to an elite group of individuals with advanced technical expertise and strong engineering skills. If you have a blend of energy, knowledge, and leadership, it’s time to put them to action in a program that redefines “hands-on” experience.

Our program participants work as field engineers for 18 months at an international location. During your time in the field, you will install, operate, and troubleshoot proprietary equipment and solutions under a variety of conditions. We serve customers year-round in all climates, terrains, and weather—and so will you. After 18 months, you’ll transition to a technology center where you will apply your field experience to designing, developing, and deploying the most advanced solutions and equipment in the world.

The unique blend of on-the-ground knowledge and tech savvy you’ll glean from the program keeps us on the leading edge of oilfield technologies. As you help craft innovative, field-driven solutions for our customers, there’s no limit to your impact—and no end to the sense of adventure.

If those words describe you, we’re offering the role of a lifetime.

“The Tech and Field program was one of the main reasons I chose to join Schlumberger, and it really kick-started my career in the company. Most new engineers have no exposure to the oilfield prior to joining the industry, so having an opportunity to work as a field engineer before starting a career in product design is invaluable.”

Mattias Tech Development Team Leader, Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA

“It is really a plus to be part of those who experienced the field operations. You gain tremendous knowledge about the measurements, the rig operations and what it is like to be out there! From my experience, I learned how efficient operations can be and how to handle constant client pressure. It’s hard, but it’s also fun, too. The best part is maybe the friends you make for life out there.”

Yasmine Production Manager–Detectors, Masters in Industrial Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden

“The program gave me a much more practical, hands-on approach to the tools we are designing/maintaining in the product center. I very much enjoyed my time in the field, attending training schools and getting front-line responsibility.”

Stephanie Mechanical Engineer, Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from University of Oxford, UK
