HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
The offices of Central United Methodist Church will be closedThursday November 25 and Friday November 26
for the Thanksgiving holiday.
ADVENT BEGINS NOVEMBER 28thThe Christian year begins on Sunday November 28th with the season of Advent. Long ago Christians developed a calendar with “seasons” that
would help tell the story of Jesus. The central focus of Advent is the birth of Jesus and his being made known to the world.
These are special days for those who follow Jesus as we celebrate God’s gift of the Savior. Join us each Sunday during Advent and for the special
events scheduled for this season of expectation, joy, and celebration!
JOIN US @ CENTRAL FOR THIS YEAR’S CHRISTMAS PARADE!
You are invited to join us December 4th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Central UMC for the 2010 Meridian Christmas Parade! There will be hot soup, cocoa, and popcorn for one and all as we throw open our doors to the community.
Central provides a prime viewing spot for parade-watchers, so invite a neighbor and come early!

CENTRAL UMC‛S “VOLUNTEER OF THE WEEK”
In Ephesians chapter 4 we read that the Holy Spirit has given some special abilities to the teachers. That is truly the case with Jack and Jane Massey.
They are teachers by profession and wonderful volunteers at Central. They have been teachers in the children’s Sunday school department and served on many church committees including: Administrative Council, SPRC and Trustees. Jack has worked with the Boy Scouts of America and Jane does Moments with the Children on Sunday Morning.
For the past eight years they have worked with the children who attend Divorce Recovery.
Thank you so much! Jack and Jane Massey

UPCOMING EVENTS
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2010There will be ONE WORSHIP EVENT @ CENTRAL!On Sunday, December 26th, there will be one worship service at Central. Our worship that day will be at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary. We’ll sing Christmas carols, revel in the child-like joy of the season, and hear again the “good news” that Christmas is all about – God’s incredible gift of Jesus to the world. You are encouraged to dress casually and comfortably.
There will be no Sunday School on this day – just a time to gather as part of God’s family and worship in song, prayer, and Scripture. This will be a Christmas worship event you won’t want to miss!
