Absolutely Abdominal

We all have four layers of abdominalmuscles, each with fibers running in a dif-ferent direction. This criss-crossing patternshapes your midsection and supports thelower back. There are many reasons why theabs can weaken and“lose shape”: past preg-nancies, abdominal sur-gery, sitting for hours aday at a desk, just toname a few. Commoncrunches only serve tofurther weaken muscles.In this workshop, wewill learn how tostrengthen all four layersof ab muscle, reshapeyour waistline and checkoverstretched abdominalconnective tissue from pregnancies. Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners(IOCP) serves families and individuals of 8west suburban communities—Hamel, LongLake, Medicine Lake, Medina, MinnetonkaBeach, Orono, Plymouth, and Wayzata. Lo-cated at 1605 Hwy 101 North in Plymouth.IOCP provides both short- and long-termhelp with food, clothing, housing, employ-ment, child care, transportation, and connec-tions to other resources. Plymouth Parks & RecreationAquatics Program

* Pool Rental: Enjoy the pool with yourgroup or organization. Wayzata East andWest Pools are available for limited rental.The fee is $85 per hour and includes two life-guards. Larger groups will be charged foradditional guards. Call 763–509–5222 atleast two weeks in advance. No Sunday rent-als.

Looking to make a difference? Work in a funand supportive environment. Lifeguard, Wa-ter Safety Aide, and Water Safety Instructorpart-time positions are available during theschool year and summer. Applications on-line at www.plymouthmn.gov .

Community Services

for Older Adults

Senior Community Services sponsors a va-riety of activities for seniors in the commu-nities of Wayzata and Plymouth. For moreinformation on services and activities call952-541-1019.

Plymouth Creek Center

Located at 14800 – 34th Avenue in Plymouth.The senior program operates from 8:00 amto 4:30 pm every weekday and some eve-nings. Many programs, classes and trips areoffered, including exercise, painting, historyclasses, legal and health seminars and manyspecial focus groups. A bi-monthly newslet-ter will be mailed to seniors upon request.Call Sara Mittelstaedt at 763-509-5280.

Wayzata

Transportation for some activities is avail-able through Senior Community Services.Wayzata Area Senior Gathering is a socialgroup for all area seniors. Call Linda Mackinat 952-541-1019 for more information.

Minnetonka Senior Center

The Minnetonka Senior Center and Commu-nity Center is located at 14600 MinnetonkaBlvd., Minnetonka 55345. The Center pro-vides education and activities for adults ofall ages. Members must be enrolledin UCare at the time of registration, and through the duration of the class(es). Be prepared toprovide your UCare ID number when registering.

Additional fees/materials:

Additional fees and/or materials are required for some classes. Check the course descriptionfor the amount. Payment is made directly to the instructor at the first class, unless otherwisenoted.
