Adobe Customer Story

Intranet excellenceWhen Adobe’s more than 13,000 employees worldwide need human resources, legal, marketing , IT, event, or other information, they turn to Inside Adobe, Adobe’s global intranet site. Since Adobe’s Digital Communications team unified the intranet and leveraged more capabilities in Adobe Experience Manager, part of Adobe Marketing Cloud, the overall employee satisfaction rating for the site has jumped from 75% to 92%. Additionally, the Nielsen Norman Group named Inside Adobe among the top 10 intranet sites for 2015 in its Intranet Design Annual.

“The beauty of Adobe Experience Manager is that every Adobe department can publish their own content and edit their own intranet pages, without having to involve Adobe IT,” says Ray Brulotte, Senior Manager, Inside Adobe Strategy and Integrations. “By using the templates and best practices we provide, teams across Adobe can maintain a unified look and feel to intranet content, while enjoying the autonomy to maintain their own sites.”

Global experiences made localBefore standardizing on Adobe Experience Manager, the Digital Communications team partnered with IT and the Adobe.com team to conduct an extensive request for proposal and proof of concept, searching for a next-generation web content management system. This occurred before Adobe acquired Day Software, initial creators of what became Adobe Experience Manager.

Adobe Customer Story

“We previously had a decentralized publishing model across multiple departmental sites,” says Andrea Brant, Group Manager for Digital Communications at Adobe. “We wanted to standardize our intranet globally, and we also wanted to provide personalized experiences to each employee, such as showing news and events for their location, business unit, or role, as well as offer a robust employee profile.”

After adopting Adobe Experience Manager, the Digital Communications team, which acts as the Center of Excellence for Inside Adobe, began by moving four groups onto the platform. Today, 60 sites rely on one instance of Adobe Experience Manager for their employee communications needs, unifying multiple sites into a single, unified intranet.

For their sites, departments use templates and components generated by the Digital Communications team to create their own customized pages. They can also use shared assets stored using the assets capability in Experience Manager to enhance managing banners and other images to save time and help ensure company-wide consistency.

Multiple integrations enrich experiencesThrough integration with Adobe’s implementation of Workday, a human resources and financial management solution, employee information is automatically populated within Adobe Experience Manager. If employees want to augment their profiles with cell phone numbers or personal interests or hobbies, for example, they can easily do so on their own.

“The flexibility of Adobe Experience Manager has allowed Adobe to complete several integrations with third-party solutions to enhance the user experience.”

SOLUTION AT A GLANCE• Adobe Marketing Cloud, including the

Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Analytics solutions. Capabilities used include:

• Sites

• Assets

• Communities

• Marketing reports and analytics

• Ad hoc analysis

In addition, Experience Manager is integrated with the Google Search Appliance, making the entire intranet much easier to search. Users can search broadly across the intranet or narrow their results based on granular criteria, such as employee profiles or news articles.

“The flexibility of Adobe Experience Manager has allowed Adobe to complete several integrations with third-party solutions to enhance the user experience,” says Brulotte.

Each employee’s experience is fully customized based on a person’s role, as well as on his or her location and organization. Additionally, although Adobe’s official language is English, users in other countries can enter content into Adobe Experience Manager in their native languages to boost ease of use.

Proven results, increased engagementAdobe uses Adobe Analytics to gauge the adoption and success of its unified intranet, and the results are impressive. The overall employee satisfaction rating for the site has risen from 75% to 92%.

Since implementing Experience Manager, users report improved engagement, and employees are commenting liking, and sharing news articles using the social communities capability in the solution.

“Adobe Analytics enables us to capture engagement metrics, such as liking or commenting on news articles, so we can continually monitor how our employees engage with content. Our goal is to always enhance experiences and deliver useful content,” says Brulotte.

Listening and responding to employeesFuture plans include integrating Experience Manager with Adobe Campaign to promote content such as events and news items based on employee interests, office location, and other attributes. These enhancements are all designed to increase user engagement.

“We sometimes accompany Adobe sales when they present to other employee communications professionals about using Adobe Experience Manager for their intranet,” says Brant. “It becomes obvious that many communications professionals are in the same position we were in, with disconnected intranet sites and systems that require time-intensive IT involvement. When we talk to people using other, less flexible solutions, they instantly understand the value proposition of Adobe Experience Manager.”

“Our goal is to always enhance experiences and deliver useful content.”
