Introduction
Al Yamamah University (YU) was first authorized by the Saudi Ministry of Higher Education in May 2001 to provide
academic programs in business administration and information systems. Initially founded as Al Yamamah College,
YU opened its doors to the public in September 2004, offering a bachelor’s degree in business administration with
five concentrations.
The ultra-modern campus, located on the Riyadh-Qassim Highway, north of Riyadh, was built at a total cost of
250 million Saudi Riyals (approximately 66 million USD), and provides state-of-the-art facilities that support YU’s
high-quality educational programs.
From its earliest days, the university has dedicated itself to recruiting experienced and proven faculty and staff
members who have provided valuable leadership in the design and delivery of both degree and non-degree
programs that focus on quality, integrity, fairness and progressive, yet practical, education.
In all of its activities, YU seeks to conform to the highest standards of educational quality assurance. Committed
from the outset to the use of English as its medium of instruction, the university’s educational philosophy emphasizes
the mastery of English language skills; the development of critical thinking and evidence-based decision making;
and the acquisition of knowledge and professional skills appropriate to university graduates who are preparing to
enter the workforce in the context of a highly competitive emerging global economy.
2
In August 2005, Al Yamamah opened its College of Women. Three years later, in mid-December 2008, the college
moved to its newly-constructed women’s campus located separate from but adjacent to the existing men’s
facilities. Additional construction projects, planned and in-progress, include Al Yamamah Institute for Banking and
Finance; the Saudi INTERLINK (SILC) Building, student residence halls, and housing facilities for faculty and staff.
Al Yamamah University’s College of Computing and Information Systems was established in 2008, offering a
master’s degree with four concentrations and is currently seeking membership in ABET.
MISSION STATEMENT
Al Yamamah University provides academic instruction and professional training of the highest standard that
imparts to its students a life-long dedication to learning and self-development, while enabling the rising generation
to shape a future marked by positive social and economic progress.
VISION STATEMENT
Al Yamamah University aspires to become a leading teaching and learning institution that also is dedicated to
academic research and the effective preparation of future generations of professional leaders through its provision
of creative and innovative educational systems, in cooperation with prestigious international partners.
3
GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
Consistent with its mission and vision, YU endeavors to prepare students for successful
participation in our increasingly interconnected modern world.
The university supports the development of vital cross cultural communications skills through
its emphasis upon building a diverse and highly-qualified international team of faculty and staff
from around the globe.
YU continually seeks to incorporate world-wide best practices and innovative teaching
materials into its curriculum and actively promotes opportunities for its students to benefit from
international study and travel through its collaborations with partner institutions.
From its earliest days, Al Yamamah University has benefitted from institutional relationships
with some of the finest universities in the world who have shared their expertise in curriculum
development, sent distinguished faculty members to teach here on-campus, and even provided
opportunities for YU students to earn additional academic credentials—both degrees and
diplomas—at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
Currently, YU undergraduates may apply for dual bachelor degree programs offered in
cooperation with the Grenoble Graduate School of Management in France or the University of
Canterbury in New Zealand.
4
Graduate students in the YU EMBA program have the opportunity to study with visiting
professors from a number of world-class institutions including Washington State University
(USA) and Grenoble.
Further, by completing the prescribed requirements, they may qualify for post graduate diplomas
from Washington State University (WSU), or other universities—all these in addition to their YU
EMBA.
YU EXECUTIVE MBA IN INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP
Leadership in the commercial and industrial sectors of the global economy requires both an
understanding of the fundamental theories of business administration and the ability to apply
that knowledge to the solution of complex problems in a challenging environment subject to
the forces of continual change.
Today’s interconnected; highly competitive global marketplace exerts demands upon business
leaders that are virtually unprecedented in scope.
Success depends upon the possession of highly-developed professional skills as well as a
sophisticated understanding of the greatly expanded contextual framework of modern business
enterprises.
5
The EMBA provides a clear path to career
advancement for those who are ready to meet these
challenges and does so in a way that allows students
to pursue their educational goals with minimal
disruption to their work or family responsibilities
through classes held in the evenings and / or
weekends.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The YU EMBA in International Management
& Leadership was created for early and mid-
career professionals who would like to build upon
their undergraduate education and early work
experiences by enhancing their knowledge of
modern management theory and developing the
skills needed to address the range of issues facing
leaders and managers in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia and throughout the Middle East.
PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of the program, students should
demonstrate:
• An understanding and appreciation for the nature
of the emerging global business environment
and the related impact of international
economic, social and political developments
• Competent use of quantitative tools and
methods for data analysis and decision-
making
• Skill in the monitoring and analysis of financial
management information contained in
standard financial statements and reports
• The ability to evaluate complex business issues
and to communicate both problems and
proposed solutions through coherent written
statements and oral presentations
• The ability to formulate and oversee the
implementation of effective business strategies
in an international context
• Expanded capacity for organizational and team
leadership
• Personal commitment to continual improvement
and self-directed learning 6
7
CHALLENGES AND EXPECTATIONS
Individuals contemplating the YU EMBA should carefully consider the very real demands placed
upon them by their participation in a rigorous post-graduate program. Following the completion
of the foundation semester, students typically devote the evenings and / or weekends, for a
total of twenty-one months, to intensive preparation and active participation in their classes.
This entails a good deal of focused reading and study, with an emphasis upon case analysis.
Students should also bear in mind the importance that their English language skills will exert
upon their ability to participate meaningfully in class discussions and projects and will be well
advised to take any necessary steps to improve prior to enrollment and over the duration of
the program.
Attendance at all classes is mandatory. Students may miss no more than one scheduled session
and further absences will result in automatic withdrawal from the course.

YU EMBA STRUCTURE
The YU EMBA is offered throughout the year. While the program
does not provide a thesis option, students may choose from one
of several offered concentrations. Classes are typically held in
the evenings or on weekends to enable working professionals
to pursue their educational goals while remaining on the job.
Although completing the program will inevitably entail some
sacrifice of personal time, the curriculum has been designed to
minimize disruptions to students’ ongoing career responsibilities
and family life.
Since all courses are presented in English and utilize the case
model approach, successful completion of the program will
require well-developed skills in both English language and
critical thinking. Each course will entail a final examination and/
or research paper.
Students may contact the teaching faculty for each course via
email beginning from two weeks prior to the beginning of class
sessions up until two weeks after the completion of the lecture/
discussion.

COURSE DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS
In order for class discussions and case analyses to provide the intended benefit, students are
expected to attend the evening tutorial prior to the outset of formal class sessions and to read
the primary text and related case studies in advance of the related course lectures.
The success of each course depends upon students brining to class discussions the knowledge
and insights they have gained from their preparation and work experiences. Students should
be prepared to dedicate the time needed in advance of each session to enable their active
participation.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
TOEFL score of 550 is a minimum requirement for a candidate to demonstrate his English
proficiency.
INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE & PROGRAM CONTINUANCE
Students who complete twelve courses beyond the foundation semester with a CGPA of
2.5 / 4.0 will be awarded a YU postgraduate diploma in management.
Those who have not achieved a CGPA of 3.0 / 4.0 for their academic work or who have failed
to earn a TOEFL score of 550 by the completion of the first twelve courses will be ineligible to
continue on in the EMBA program.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for admission to the YU EMBA program must have completed a four-year
undergraduate degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution, with a minimum CGPA
of 3.0 / 4.0.
Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in business administration may be admitted to the program
with a deficient CGPA (as low as 2.5 / 4.0) provided that they achieved grades of 3.0 / 4.0 or
above in their business coursework.
Individuals who fall short of these requirements may be considered for provisional admission
upon the basis of a particularly strong work record or the prior successful completion of a
graduate degree program.
These students will be required to register for a full load of foundation courses (12 credit hours)
and to complete them with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 / 4.0 or they will be dismissed from the
program.
As English is the language of instruction for the YU EMBA, applicants must provide evidence
of having achieved a TOEFL score of 550 within the previous three years. Students may be
conditionally admitted with TOEFL 500, but will be required to achieve TOEFL 550 in order to
be fully admitted.
Applicants with TOEFL scores of less than 500 should undertake more intensive English
language training such as that offered by YU or other educational institutions before they can
proceed with credit-earning coursework within the program, although they can be admitted
upon a conditional basis if they have met all other admission requirements.
13
Students without undergraduate training in business administration or whose preparation was
in a language other than English may be required to register for foundation semester courses
as a condition of admittance to the program.
The admissions committee will decide which of the applicable courses—Principles of
Management, Principles of Accounting, Principles of Finance, Principles of Marketing,
Introduction to Economics, and Introduction to Statistics—will be required for each candidate,
based upon transcript analysis as well as a consideration of any relevant professional training.
Students must earn a grade of 2.5 or higher in all foundation courses.
Applicants who lack sufficient relevant work experience might be asked to demonstrate their
aptitude for the program through a minimum score of 500 on the Graduate Management
Admission Test (GMAT). In addition, students may be required to complete a non-credit earning
8 week internship prior to graduation from the EMBA program.

MBA PROGRAM
Al Yamamah University provides a conventional MBA program
for recent graduates, individuals in the early stages of their
professional careers, or students who prefer courses that are
principally delivered over an entire semester instead of in the
intensive format that typically characterizes the EMBA program
MBA MISSION & VISION STATEMENT
To develop leaders in the area of business administration who
are dedicated to the betterment of society by providing a high
quality management and business education to top caliber
students from all segments of Arab society as well as from
other countries while focusing on continuous improvement and
commitment to excellence in learning, intellectual contributions
and service.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The key goal of the YU MBA program is to prepare students for
success as management professionals in today’s technology-
driven global business environment.
It emphasizes the development of critical thinking and the
effective integration of fundamental business knowledge
and skills (theory and practice) while providing students with
sophisticated tools and techniques for analysis and decision
making.
Throughout the program, students will be challenged to
approach business problems from a strategic perspective.
Class assignments and exercises are designed to promote
effective leadership traits, well-developed communications
skills and collaborative team efforts.
16
PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of the program, students should demonstrate:
• An understanding and appreciation for the nature of the emerging global business
environment and the related impact of international economic, social and political
developments
• Competent use of quantitative tools and methods for data analysis and decision-making
• Skill in the monitoring and analysis of financial management information contained in
standard financial statements and reports
• The ability to evaluate complex business issues and to communicate both problems and
proposed solutions through coherent written statements and oral presentations
• The ability to formulate and oversee the implementation of effective business strategies in
an international context
• Expanded capacity for organizational and team leadership
• Personal commitment to continual improvement and self-directed learning
While the MBA program is open to degree-holders from any field of study, students entering
without academic preparation in business administration are required to complete foundation
semester course work in the fundamental business disciplines of management, marketing,
accounting, finance, economics and statistics prior to undertaking the core and elective
offerings that constitute the heart of program.
FLEXIBILITY
The MBA program affords students the flexibility to pursue their educational and career-
development goals at their preferred pace – on a part-time or full-time basis, requiring from 24
to 36 months to completion.
Most courses are conducted over the duration of an entire semester, with only a limited number
of intensive offerings. This allows students the opportunity to reflect upon new insights and
gradually hone their practical skills in a manner that enhances both retention and further
development.
LEADERSHIP
YU’s MBA faculty are academic leaders with doctoral degrees from some of the world’s most
outstanding universities and business schools.
Their combination of broad-based international academic and corporate experience provides
ideal support for their primary objective of developing MBA students into the dynamic business
leaders so needed throughout Saudi Arabia and the GCC countries.
17
EXCELLENCE
Students enrolled in the YU MBA program will benefit from a solid
MOHE-approved curriculum developed by international experts and
delivered by world-class professors. The program and its students
enjoy dedicated modern facilities that are equipped with the latest
educational technologies.
CURRICULUM

proficiency.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for admission to the YU MHRM program must have completed a four-year
undergraduate degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution, with a minimum CGPA
of 3.0 / 4.0.
Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in business administration or Human Recourse Management
may be admitted to the program with a deficient CGPA (as low as 2.5 / 4.0) provided that they
achieved grades of 3.0 / 4.0 or above in their business / HR coursework.
Individuals who fall short of these requirements may be considered for provisional admission
upon the basis of a particularly strong work record or the prior successful completion of a
graduate degree program.
administration that emphasizes critical analysis 32
These students will be required to register for a full load of foundation courses (12 credit hours)
and to complete them with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 / 4.0 or they will be dismissed from the
program.
As English is the language of instruction for the MHRM, applicants must provide evidence
of having achieved a TOEFL score of 513 within the previous three years. Students may be
conditionally admitted with TOEFL 480, but will be required to achieve TOEFL 513 in order to
be fully admitted.
Applicants with TOEFL scores of less than 480 should undertake more intensive English
language training such as that offered by YU or other educational institutions before they can
proceed with credit-earning coursework within the program, although they can be admitted
upon a conditional basis if they have met all other admission requirements.
Entering students without undergraduate training in business administration or whose
preparation was in a language other than English may be required to register for foundation
semester courses as a condition of admittance to the program.
In addition, students may be required to complete a non-credit earning 8 week internship prior
to graduation from the MHRM program.
