MANDATORY / ESSENTIAL

Project Ref. Project Title Costs Principal Staff Resources Status

05/10 UCAS HERCULESUCAS are introducing a new real-time online service called HERCULES for the two-way transfer of admissions data. This will replace the current Marvin batch system (due to be withdrawn at end of AY 2007).

Budget – none required

MIS Senior Analyst Programmer (3 months)

Test data exchange planned for Nov 2006Completion target April 2007.Initial test data transfers completed successfully. Currently pressing UCAS for more meaningful test data based on our own data. Further tests carried out but still NOT possible to test making of offers and processing associated responses. UCAS contacted again but so far intransigent. Test connections and basic data transfers completed. Basic transactional tests completed successfully but further work will be required in 07/08 to ensure that more complex transactions are processed correctly and that the interface process can be fully automated.

05/12 PAYROLL/HR PHASE II – HR/PERSONNEL SYSTEM (INCLUDING STAFF DATA INTEGRATION)Current system obsolete

£87k Personnel: project coordinatorISS: staff for data reconciliation/migration, possible as project manager.Possibly programming staff input for initial “quick wins” to release Personnel staff for implementation work.Finance: for integration with Payroll and Establishment Control issues

The initial plan to implement the TeamSpirit HR module is currently on hold. Further work on improving staff data feeds to other systems ongoing. Systems for the handling of visiting staff integrated more closely with "normal" staff processes and the transfer of teaching staff to the CMIS timetabling system enhanced.

05/15 MSP (MODULAR STUDY SCHEMES DATABASE)Phase 2: to cover HHS, Southend, and Modular Study Programmes, including modular Masters. Construction of credit accumulation and related administration systems for MSPs

Budget – none required

Academic Section:ISS: System Analyst Programmer (6 months)

First phase work (credit accumulation) due for completion April 2007. Phase two (assessment processes) required by May 2007.Preparatory work completed on schedule and phase 1 work now in progress. Phase 1 work completed on time and presentations to staff favourably received. Phase 2 work now in progress and on schedule. EDS asked for primary contact and outline enhancement specification/issues document for development of additional functionality for their needs. Phase II functionality to handle credit accumulation and manual entry of assessment live - user training underway. Some residual work remains for 07/08 the two main phases of this project for 06/07 are complete.
