To have continual interaction with the fellow metrologists, National Physical Laboratory-India (CSIR-NPL) and Metrology Society of India (MSI) have jointly been organizing International Conference on Advances in Metrology (AdMet), once in every two years since 1996 and 7th AdMet 2009 was held at CSIR-NPL during February 18-20, 2009. In the last annual General Body meeting held on 20th May 2010 at CSIR-NPL, New Delhi, it was decided that there will be two national AdMet in two consecutive years and every third year, there will be an International Conference, which will be held at CSIR-NPL, New Delhi. The present conference at ARAI, Pune is the second in the national AdMet series. AdMet brings Metrologists and industrial professionals together on a common platform to share their thoughts and innovative ideas concerning advancements in metrology and its application to the industry.

2nd National conference of Metrology Society of India (MSI) on advances in Metrology (AdMet 2012), which is scheduled to take place at ARAI, Pune, (India) from 6th to 8th February 2012. AdMet 2012 offers the unique opportunity to learn and share about advances, technology and products in the area of metrology. The theme of Admet 2012 is “Precision Measurement & its application in Auto Industry”.

About MSI :

About CSIR-NPL :

Metrology Society of India (MSI) was founded in Jan 1984 to promote and disseminate Metrology in its varied aspects. The main objectives of MSI is to provide a forum for exchange of ideas, opinions and experiences of persons and agencies connected with metrology and also assist the Government in formulating legislative and other measures for further growth in metrology in the country. It is publishing a quarterly journal, MAPAN-Journal of Metrology Society of India, exclusively devoted to metrology since 1985.

The Automotive Research Association of India ( ARAI ) has been playing a crucial role in assuring safe, less polluting and more efficient vehicles. ARAI provides technical expertise in R & D, testing, certification, homologation and framing of vehicle regulations.

CSIR-NPL established in 1947, a signatory to the MRA of CIPM,has been assigned the responsibility to carry out the work related to realization, establishment, custody, maintenance, reproduction and improve continuously by research, the standards of Physical and chemical measurements with highest level of accuracies and Traceability to the international measurement system. CSIR-NPL's objective is to assist the industries and other agencies of the country in their requirements of precision measurements and calibration of instruments, as well as in the development of related devices, processes and techniques.

About ARAI :

Traceability of standards to SI units is achieved either by calibrations performed at the CSIR-NPL or by getting some of the standards calibrated from BIPM, the International Bureauof Weights and Measures, or the NMI of another country that hasachieved less uncertainty in the value of a standard. Equivalence of these national standards with international standards is achieved by participating in international inter comparisons of standards.

S.R. MaratheDirector - ARAI

Vice Chairman -AdMet 2012 Advisory Committee

With the liberation of economy and globalization of trade, considerable efforts are being made in building the confidence that measurement made in one location in the world are compatible/equivalent to those made in other locations on the same or related products

AdMet EXPO 2012 will also be conducted concurrently, offering Metrological and allied companies to display their products / technologies. I have great pleasure in bringing out this announcement of AdMet 2012. The announcement invites Professionals, Engineers and Academicians to present / share their work in the field of advances in Metrology during this Conference. The Advisory Committee looks forward to receive wholehearted support from entire Metrological Community.

ARAI is a co-operative industrial research association established by the automotive industry with the Ministry of Industries, Government of India. It works in harmony and complete confidence with its members, customers and the Government of India to offer the finest services, which earned for itself ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and NABL accreditations. ARAI is well-equipped with state-of-the-art infra-structural facilities and highly qualified manpower. It has NABL accredited Calibration Laboratory catering both internal and external customers in the field of Mechanical, Electro-Technical and Thermal Calibration. As a host of AdMet 2012, we welcome all Scientists, Professionals, Authors, Manufacturers and Delegates to this conference.
