INTRODUCTION

Seymour College offers a rich, vibrant and multifaceted education. It provides a stepping stone to immense opportunities wrought by the excellence and diversity of our College's educational offering and our vision to foster young women of strength, optimism and justice who contribute to an equitable world for all. Our approach is founded upon two key pillars: learning and wellbeing. Set in a leafy suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, and only 15 minutes from the CBD, Seymour College has been one of Australia's leading girls' colleges for 95 years. The College occupies a spacious, park-like campus that is well provided with playing fields and other recreational facilities. Classrooms are surrounded by trees and gardens to create a peaceful learning environment. Seymour College is well known in Australia and internationally for the outstanding academic results of its graduates. The College is proud of the achievements of our students, many of whom have gone on to make significant contributions in a wide range of fields of endeavour nationally and internationally. Our girls' outstanding commitment to learning across a vast array of academic and co-curricular subjects is strongly apparent in their remarkable achievements. This is matched

by a commitment on the part of our staff to go 'above and beyond' in striving to deliver the very best education for our girls. Our idyllic campus offers a beautiful learning environment but the warmth of the atmosphere is even more remarkable and this is a reflection of the wonderful culture and our commitment to student wellbeing within a framework of positive education. The Class of 2017 achieved outstanding results in their SACE, reflecting their determination, grit, energy, and enthusiasm towards learning and their willingness to maximise the opportunities presented throughout their school years. In 2017, 81 girls completed Year 12 at Seymour College and I am delighted to celebrate their achievements of 35 Merits across 17 subjects. Two students also received the prestigious Governor of South Australia SACE Commendation. It is through the breadth and diversity of our curriculum that every student has had the opportunity to achieve in a program tailored to her strengths and interests - assisting her to develop a pathway towards her future goals. We are an International Baccalaureate school offering both the IB Diploma Programme and the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) to our senior students. We value the contribution our International students make to our diverse population and take pride in highlighting and celebrating their achievements and experiences.Kevin TuttPrincipal

ACCOMMODATIONSeymour College offers the following accommodation options:• On campus Boarding House where students have access to the College's many facilities. Students in Years 6-11 share bedrooms, while Year 12 students have single rooms.

• Homestay accommodation: Seymour has partnered with the Australian Homestay Network (AHN) to provide accredited homestay options where International students have an opportunity to experience the Australian way of life in a family situation.

PASTORAL CAREThrough its International Program, Seymour College provides supportive pastoral care, and counselling if required. Students have access to the International Student Coordinator on a regular basis to address any academic or personal concerns. Each student is also in the care of her Form Teacher, with whom she has daily contact. Each student's progress is monitored closely throughout her schooling, and guidance and assistance are provided as needed. To further support students the College employs two Student Counsellors and a Careers Counsellor.

CURRICULUMThe College offers a very broad range of subjects and courses

throughout Middle and Senior Schools, with the Maths/Science and Arts/Humanities areas well represented in the curriculum. All students are given an opportunity to complete their formal secondary education by following a course appropriate to their talents and interest. Our accreditation to introduce the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) from 2017 is a further demonstration of our ongoing commitment to offer a vibrant and robust curriculum for Seymour girls.A flow chart of subjects offered from Year 6 to Year 12 is included in this brochure.

REPORTING PROCEDUREParents are kept informed of their daughter's progress and grades at the end of each semester. Where necessary, teachers will contact parents more frequently to give reports on a student's progress. Parents are encouraged to contact the College at any time if they have a concern regarding their daughter.

INTENSIVE ENGLISHSeymour recognises the difficulties that students face when limited language skills present challenges to successful learning. As part of our academic program, we operate a bridging program for International students. The course provides the necessary links between language and learning. The program assesses students' language acquisition and offers transition units to enable an appropriate and graduated progression to the required level of study.Intensive English tuition is provided on a daily basis. Students also receive support in all subject areas and are given specialised vocabulary sessions for subjects where the understanding of terminology is critical.Students' involvement in the Program varies depending on their needs at any given time. When they are not actively

participating in the transition programme, students undertake negotiated study or attend mainstream classes.

MAINTAINING THE BALANCEStudents are encouraged to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles through physical education and sport. The College's physical education program promotes physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.In addition, Seymour College offers International students an extensive co-curricular and extra-curricular programme, ensuring they have a balanced education.
