ADAMS CHILDRENby Audur Ava lafsdttir
A dance lay! in t"# actsThe dance and movement/corporal expression in this piece is created by the
choreographer as an integral part of the structure and content of the play. Dance is used
to shed a different light on the characters than the dialogue and to reveal part of their
true nature. The frequency and placing of the dance scenes can be worked out in greater
detail with the choreographer in collaboration with the director.
CHARAC$ERS(the roles are defined from the mothers perspectiveTHE MOTHER, ELIZABETH (Lizzie) is in her seventies (and gets younger as the p ay
progresses)

%R&L&'(E (The characters introduce themselves in the microphone on the edge of the stage. !f
there is a curtain in front of the stage" the introduction can take place in front of that.
#ach character introduces himself/herself in turn and is characterised by his/her own
personal and distinctive movements/dance steps. The other characters are blacked out
during the introductions" as the spotlight is alternately switched on and off.
