Rapid Transit System
Construction continues on vivaNext projects,
with a flurry of activity transforming York Region’s
rapid transit network. And while construction
continues on Highway 7 from Bayview to Warden,
excitement is building for the opening of the
first median rapidway segment this summer from
Bayview to Highway 404. Davis Drive is also very busy
with significant construction activity from Yonge Street to
Roxborough Road. Property acquisition, surveying and
preparations for construction continue for Highway 7 West in
Vaughan, and Yonge Street in Richmond Hill and Newmarket.
On top of that, tunnel boring continues on the Toronto-York Spadina
Subway Extension and work has begun on the new transit facility
in Richmond Hill. This summer playbook presents the planned
construction activities, noticeable impacts and outlines our plan
to share practical, timely information to help minimize disruptions.

We’re building a rapidway on Davis Drive that will be the foundation for
something great – convenient transit and attractive spaces for everyone to
enjoy. to build the rapidway, we need to widen Davis Drive from yonge street
to roxborough road. to prepare for widening the road, this summer we’re
continuing to relocate utilities, install and replace segments of infrastructure
for hydro, gas, storm drain, water main, sewer line, phone and cable. traffic
lanes will be shifting along Davis Drive, one lane in each direction. We’re also
working on the north side of the keith bridge and continuing to build retaining
walls. the full list of construction activities is provided on page 3.
