ACTIVATING AN ACCOUNT IN HANDSHAKE Carroll University’s Career Services utilizes Handshake to help students:

Explore local and national job and internship postings.

Make appointments with professional and peer staff. Upload documents (such as resumes and cover letters) for an electronic review.

Make public profile to allow employers to search and reach out for opportunities.

The first step is to get the Handshake platform. You can follow any of the 3 options to access

Handshake:

I. Log onto Handshake using web address:

1.) Go to carrollu.joinhandshake.com

Click on the button “Carroll University Sign On”.

2.) Enter your Carroll username and password.

*Note: use the username (not email) and password used for Carroll portal.

II. Log onto Handshake using portal:

1.) Login into My.Carrollu.edu

2.) Click on the “Departments” Tab

3.) Click on “Career Services”.

4.) Click on the Handshake logo

5.) Click on the “Carroll University Sign On” button.

*if you are signed onto the portal, after hitting the button, you will be signed into Handshake.

III. Activate via email link

All students should have received an email link from Career Services via Handshake. This email looks like

this:

1.) Click the “Get Started” button in the email.

2) Decide if you would like for employers to view your profile by checking or unchecking the first box. It

is not mandatory to check to the first box to activate your profile. You must agree to the Terms of

Service and Privacy Policy before moving on.

3) Click “Get Started”.

Customize Handshake Profile:

You are able to customize your profile and job/internship by indicating things such as industries,

experience, and skills.

There are about 10 total categories to fill out information. Some you may have a good idea, and there

may be some that you’re not sure about. Fill out as much as you can, you can always fill out that

information in the platform at a later date.
