Why a community panel?• A new approach to community engagement.
What is the community panel’s objective?• To agree on 2-3 development options to take to the broader
community for a six week engagement period. Will then be able to finalise the master plan.
How will the community panel achieve this objective?• Intend to hold 3 meetings 1.5 to 2 hours long.

redevelopment that improve the public domain.
• Support introduction of night time uses.
• Establish Hardwick Crescent (east) as a pedestrian-oriented main street.
• Improve pedestrian and cyclist connections between the centre core and areas to the east.
• Possibly expand retail to the east by redeveloping the former Kippax Health Centre building and improve interface with playing fields.
• Development potential on surface car parks.

Engagement feedback on the draft master plan• Convenient and accessible car parking is highly valued.• Proposal to establish a central hub with new community facilities, play
space, trees and cafes next to the Kippax Library was well supported.• The ovals and open/green spaces are highly valued by many.• Concerns were raised about the proposed new roads and traffic
management at the intersections and pedestrian/cyclist safety.• Mixed views about the building heights proposed. 57% felt that the
proposed building heights were about right.

MarcoPlan Dimasi retail analysis - June 2016• Additional retail floor space in the centre is viable.• Additional floor space could include a combination of third supermarket,
mini-major anchor store and mix of services/retail.• West Belconnen (Ginninderry) will support.• There is not a strong market appetite for supermarket development on car
park sites in Kippax.• This is due to the need to replace car parking.
