Monday, May 12 Today we started about 8:30am, and finished around 11am. We cleaned the back room vacuumed, cleaned the glass mirrors, rearranged all of the rehearsal furniture, and put away all of the props left out from senior projects and Legally Blonde. After that we painted the fences, which will go on the stage eventually. Tuesday, May 13 We started around 9am, and it was already 90 degrees outside. We took care of leftover costumes for Lia. I have to start on costume stock soon, which will mean air conditioned rooms better than working outside. For today, I worked on organizing the center room, which has been a disaster for weeks. I put together a few new boxes. We ended around 2pm Wednesday, May 14 Today was interesting. We started at 9am. Michaela and I were on curtain duty. We hung most of the curtains in the house before lunch, but needed to run and get more fabric from Joann’s. Michaela and I got $$ from Bill and left to see what we could find. We took our lunch to go and headed to Huntington Beach. Once we had purchased the first set of fabric, we got a call from Paul and Lia, both asking to pick up extra fabric and supplies. The trip ended up being bigger than I had anticipated. When we got back, we finished the curtains, and then painted the deck. Thursday, May 15 Today, Michaela and I demonstrated our muscular strength by moving an upright piano from the theatre back to the basement. I personally blame Troy, Micah, and Michael for the back pain I suffered later today. I then went to work for Lia in the costume shop. We worked on repair notes and I had to put away stock. I had lunch in the cove with Michaela, and somehow convinced her to come and help Lia and I :) Friday, May 16 We started around 11am. Today was especially fun, because we laid the fake grass down on the stage. It was really heavy to maneuver, but it adds that special touch to the stage that paint just can’t give. After the large portion was cut and stapled, I got to finish the sides and corners, which really took no time at all. After that I grabbed lunch and headed for the costume shop. Lia had a few larger tasks for me to complete. I went back to work in the shop that evening, but I couldn’t finish all of the notes. She said I could come in on Monday. Monday, May 19 Today, we started at 11am. It was nice to sleep in a little bit, but we really didn’t have a whole lot going on today. I worked on notes with Lia all day: this consisted of fixing hems, arranging flowers on the hat for Sue, and digging through stock to try and find pieces to work. I ended around 3ish, but still had a few things to finish. Tuesday, May 20.

I woke up this morning to a worried text from Steph. Apparently, Tricia had jury duty and failed to tell anyone. The problem is that to this point in the show, she has NOT gathered all of the props we need. We preview in 2 days. I can understand if some props were hard to find, but honestly, she has had so much time to find them, that it should not have to fall on me to cover her. Anyways, I worked with Lia today to finish the notes we had for the day. About 2:30pm, Lia and I decided that the only way to get the props finished was to do it ourselves. Michaela and I ventured to Lake Forest to Costume Castle to get the holster and toy guy for Max to use. I was not happy that I had to spend my afternoon driving the 405 freeway when this prop has been on the list for almost 3 weeks. But we went, we conquered, and Michaela and I got dinner. We had dress rehearsal tonight and I went very well.  Wednesday, May 21 Interns had the day off :)   Thursday, May 22 We only worked an hour today we finished touching up paint, and honestly, that is all we did.  Friday, May 23 We were not called in today, because everything was finished. :) We open today! I’m currently sitting backstage getting ready to start the show!

June 9, 2014: So today is the last day of All My Sons, and it has been an amazing experience. So far, I have logged over 85 hours between rehearsals, working with Paul, and working for LIa in the costume shop. I think that Vanguard has a great system of how we run theatre, and I like knowing how to do my job. As an ASM, I knew how to help the stage manager and all of her responsibilities. I loved working with the cast and crew it helps that some of my best friends were with me through the whole process. Stephanie was really insightful with how she runs the show. I have learned a lot  about how to put together my binder as a stage manager, how to write blocking notes, and how to run rehearsals. I really hope that I’ll get the opportunity to stage manage a show soon: i think i’m ready :)  Hours logged: 85 as of June 9, 2014
