Broads and Marshes project

We were very pleased to have Sara Edwards come in to school this week to give expert artistic advice about how to paint marshland landscapes, using techniques such as creating a wash of colour and using vanishing points and horizon lines. The Year 5 pupils have been working hard to complete their pictures which were based on sketches and photographs taken on their recent Broads Experience day. Here are two examples of the art work produced so far, from Brandon and Stanley.

Tri-Golf tournament Tri Golf tournament

On Thursday 40 Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 children from the school took part in the School Sports Tri-Golf qualifying competition at Blofield Family Golf Centre.

The children were grouped in four teams of 10, named after some famous golfers for inspiration: Tigers, Rories, Faldos and Charlie Hulls. Each team played 8 different games based on putting and chipping, having only a couple of minutes’ practice before having 5 minutes to score as many points as possible.

All players performed very well and were a real credit to themselves and the school. From the golf skills on view we may be seeing some of the children on the European Golf Tour very soon! Many thanks to Mr Pickett and Mrs Taylor for selecting and supervising the teams for this competition.

Warmer weather Now the sun has made an appearance please can you make sure that your child comes to school with a water bottle (see through/with sports top). We encourage children to sip water throughout the day to prevent dehydration. At lunchtime, water is always available for pupils to drink, either in the school hall, with their lunch, or outside (water fountains). Please can your child also bring in a hat/cap to wear when outside and if sun is forecast can you please apply suncream before they come to school, if you are also sending your child in with suncream, it is really helpful if it is the sort that is easy to apply. Many thanks.
