Here are some of the projects we’ve recently embarked on. All this has been made possible thanks to your continued contributions and support.

Community & Outreach

Weekly• seniors for program

• School for intellectually challenged children in Islamabad, Pakistan

• 30 Bed Mother/Child Hospital in Garissa, Kenya (near Somalian border)

• $50,000 allocated for fresh water wells in select African and Asian countries

• Diabetic Clinic in Punjab, Pakistan

Building Improvements

• High School Expansion project, construction currently in progress

• Installations of electronically controlled access door locks almost complete

• Replacement of various exterior lighting to energy saving LED lights

Community Programs

IFT has maintained a history of conducting community based programs. Here are some of the many initiatives.

• 13th Year of Youth Tarbiyah Conference

9• th Annual Qiraatul Quraan and Hifz Competition

• 4th Year of the Seerah Program entitled “Finality of the Prophet”

• 4thYearoftheSignificanceofMuharramprogram highlighting the month’s virtues and key historic events

7• th Year of Fountain of Youth Initiative, (Free weekly tutoring for all on Fridays)

6• th Year of Rays of Islamic Sciences (Free Islamic classes for adults)

• Seminar on “Fiqh and virtues of Dhull Hij-jah, Udhiyyah and Eid-ul-Adha”

• Syria Support Festival raised $15,000 for theSyrianvictimsoftheconflict

• Moon Sighting Symposium

• Ladies’ Eid Bazaar & Celebration Night

• Health Care changes information event with The Scarborough Hospital

Community Support

• Free Income Tax Filing for low income families – Approx. 950 served this year

• Zaka’ah, Sadaqa’ah & Fitra funds were handled with utmost care with a distribu-tion of $311,571 to those in need.

• Further enhancements in Funeral Servic-es for our loved ones; 171 served in 2013

• Collection and distribution of Qurbani meat for those in need

• Assistance in collection of funds for the construction of new Masajid

Outreach

IFT has always actively organized outreach programs on behalf of our community. Here are a few of many continuing this year

• 11th Year of Doors Open Toronto,

8• th Annual Appreciation Dinner honouring GTA’s Top Fire Fighters, EMS Personnel,PoliceOfficers,&others

9• th Year of Hot Soup Day program, held on Saturdays serving approx. 650 meals

• “Youth and the Messenger” conference in collaboration with UofT MSA

• Interfaith Twinning/Dialogue programs between Muslims, Christians & Jews

• Paid $80,000 of the $100,000 pledged to expand the Markham Stouffville Hospital

• Paid $60,000 of the $100,000 pledged to Scarborough Hospital for MRI machine

• Donated $5,000 to Scarborough Hospi-tal’s Integrated Cancer Care Program

• Donated $10,000 to purchase a mecha-nized medical bed for the Markham Stouffville Hospital

• Worked with the Scarborough Hospital to introduce Halal hand slaughtered chicken for Muslim patients. Working on introducing halal beef products & other HMA Approved items

• $5,000 donated to the victims of Bangla-desh garment factory victims

• Construction of a 15 bed hospital nears

completion in Kisumu, Kenya

• Ongoing support continues for 3 orphan-age homes in Sri Lanka since the Tsunami

• Annualsupportandfinancialassistance for Islamic Schools in Guyana

Academic School

With your support, our academic school has achieved the following accomplishments:

• Ranked Top 10 in Ontario by Frazer Institute

• Shares 1st position for EQAO with 14 other schools (February 2013)

• Alumni of over 100 students, enrolled in and graduated from Top Universities

• Secured top positions at the “Muslim Inter Scholastic Tournament” (MIST), Spelling Bee Canada, Canspell, Math-matica and NAMF Speech Competition

• IFS students selected to the Ontario leg-islative Assembly’s Page Program for the fourth consecutive year (2013)

• High School receives “A” rating by the Ministry of Education
