It has been wonderful to finally have all our nursery located in their rightful spaces now.
The environments and atmosphere are wonderful and the children are all having a great
time exploring the vast array of learning opportunities provided.
The concentration and
communication skills
being developed are
beautifully
demonstrated by these
children.
The children in Oak and Ash continue to thrive. Here, they are busy making mud cakes and
playing a very exciting game of matching pairs.
Children in the
Reception classes
have been working
extremely hard to
secure their number
knowledge and
sentence writing
skills.

After postponement in the Spring Term due to inclement weather, KS1 finally went on
their Dartmoor trip this term. Fantastic weather and great behaviour of the pupils meant
they had a fabulous time exploring the wilder side of Devon.
Our increased early morning focus of
reading for pleasure beginning after half-
term has made a head start in Year 2
where these children have been really
getting into their books. Nice effort!
The recent, pleasant weather has meant that the children in Year 1 have been enjoying
their outdoor provision even more. Here, children are using their maths skills in shops, and
timing circuits and developing their story writing and art skills. How lovely!
It is lovely to see so many
parents and carers coming in
and joining in learning tasks in
the morning.
Well done to
the Year 2
children in their
SATs this term.

Year 3 and 4 have enjoyed taking
part in an experiment where
they used eggs to test the effect
that different liquids would have
on the shell. This was to help the
children understand how
different liquids can affect the
enamel on our teeth.
It was fascinating!
Year 3 have been looking at recount
writing. They went on a journey around
the school grounds and used their senses
to discover more about their
surroundings. Lily Tees wrote a lovely
recount of her journey. This is an extract
from that recount. Her punctuation is very
accurate! Well done Lily!
The bark was bumpy and covered in moss. At the top of the tree, in between the rainbow leaves, was a toy. We heard the wind rustling through the leaves noisily. The tree smelled of damp moss.
Drawing on the tables!!
3M loved investigating angles in maths.
This was even more fun because they used
masking tape and board pens to draw on
their desks!
Board Games Club
Children from across the
Junior School have
thoroughly enjoyed
Board Games Club and
as Sam Cornish in Y6
informed me – they
definitely weren’t
‘bored’!

This brilliantly presented
piece of maths work is
from Ella Webber in 5C.
She has used the bar
model to explain whether
she would rather have
three-quarters of £480 or
60% of £700.
What great proof Ella!
Following some staff training, children across the federation have been getting stuck in to
developing their painting techniques. Here you can see children from 6S and also, below
this, a great example from Iga in 5P. She was working on creating tone with different
shades of green.
Year 5 have enjoyed their Street
Surfing sessions on Thursday
afternoons.
It’s been a difficult skill to
master for some children but
their perseverance has been
commendable!
Check out this photo of Leon –
such concentration!
As Sam walked into the back
entrance of the stadium, he noticed
an Exeter City sign hanging from
the roof. When he ran onto the
pitch to warm up, a harrowing
silence filled his ears. One lonely
floodlight flickered above the
empty stadium. The seats started to
rattle unsettlingly. Suddenly, the
flood light went out.
Take a look at Jack Quick’s writing from his
recent spooky story. He has created a very
chilling atmosphere! Well done Jack!
Well done to those who
attempted the scooter
course at our recent
Bikers’ Breakfast.
