2. Introduction:
Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, a unitary Deemed to be University was set up in 2007 under section 3 of UGC Act
1956 Vide MHRD, Govt. Notification No. F.9-46/2004-U.3 of the GOI, New Delhi and Vide UGC Notification No. rdF.No. 6-1-6/2004 (CPP-1) dated. 3 March, 2007. It has acquired the status of Jain minority institutions since
2014 vide notification no: F No. 640 of 2014/387 dated 15th April 2014.
The Sumandeep Vidyapeeth is the first University to be established as medical university in the state to serve
the cause and welfare of the community. The main objectives have been to provide high quality health
education and training, to provide affordable health care, to marginalized sections of the society and carry out
community outreach activities. The foundation for this long drawn journey was laid with the establishment of
K. M. Shah Dental College & Hospital in the year 1999.
The vision of the university is ever being in pursuit of the ethos of quality of global standards and has constantly
marched towards that summit of excellence.
Sumandeep Vidyapeeth is certainly an academically, co-academically, extra academically vibrant, fully wi-fi
enabled campus. It is located on a sprawling campus which is spread over 60.22 Acres of land. The total built
up area at present is over 21 lakh 78 thousand sq.ft approx. The campus is 16 km away from Vadodara railway
station,16 km away from Vadodara central bus stand and 12 km away from Vadodara airport. 7 km from
National Highway No 8 towards Waghodia.
A 1360 bedded multidiscipline, super speciality hospital, equipped with state of the art equipments not only
caters to training needs of these courses but also provides mostly free or highly subsidized basic life support to
super-specialty care to all sections of the society, primarily the deprived and the underprivileged. Such
patients hailing form the Jain community are provided additional help for all forms of medical, surgical, super
specialty and critical care through further subsidies. A variety of outreach programs are also carried out at the
community level addressing a plethora of local health issues. A number of humanitrarian ventures, either
institutionally or in collaboration with local authorities, Govt or NGO’s have been made functional to provide
free, diagnostic and therapeutic services in the hospital and at the doorstep.
At present university has medical, dental, physiotherapy, nursing, pharmacy and management institutions as
its constituent units. As on date 8 UG, 52 postgraduate courses, 5 medical super specialties, 1 integrated
program and Ph.D. in all the departments of constituent institutes is offered to the students. From the
academic year 2016-17, MSc in 7 subjects, BSc in 12 subjects and 27 Diploma programs in paramedical
sciences have been started.
University has been awarded with highest NAAC ‘A’ grade with 3.53 CGPA out of 4.
3. Salient Features
· The MBBS and BDS programmes are recognized by Medical Council of India and Dental Council of
India respectively.
· The curriculum given by the statute is value added by incorporating elements of unique practice of
“Evidence Based Education System”.This ensures emphasis on exposing students very early on to
elements of evidence searching, validation and their proper utilization in patient care and research. The
curriculum has rich academic, clinical and research matrix, intense community orientation, emphasis
on professional skills, employability skills, ethics and code of conduct, soft skills and holistic personality
development. The subjects are integrated over the entire length of respective courses with their
applied aspects.
· Practice of unique Continuous Cumulative Evaluation System (CCES)
· The public health approach ensures priority of interface with the public through compulsory Community
postings, multi-diagnostic camps, social welfare programs etc.

· Bridge courses are conducted for English and local language.
· The Institution identifies advanced and slow learners. Bridge programs are given to educationally
disadvantage students. Remedial programs are given to educationally weak students and enrichment
programs are conducted for educationally advanced students.
· A comprehensive feedback of students, interns and alumni are taken, analyzed and improvements are
done in areas identified .
· To meet the extensive academic and co-academic commitment, University has pool of highly qualified
experienced teaching staff.
· The University has implemented mechanism for evaluation of teachers by students and alumni to

· The innovations such as ICT enabled teaching, reflective learning, simulation based training, Evidence
Based Medicine, emphasis on development of required skills, knowledge, and attitude to practice
health profession, Problem Based Learning, student assisted teaching, self-directed learning, and
medical humanities are practiced.
· 1360 bedded, multidiscipline, super specialty Dhiraj hospital, central clinical lab and well equipped
mobile clinics are provided for teaching, learning and clinical training and uniformity in exposure of
students to practical and clinical requirement.
· KMSDCH has access to more than 350 Dental Chairs for clinical training of the students. The Hospital
provides all kinds latest dental treatment at the most subsidized rates.
· The academic and examination calendar is provided before the start of the academic year.
· University promotes research, publications, collaboration, publication and Faculty development
programs.
· Student Mentor System, where in each teacher is allotted with 8-10 student is intensely practiced. The
mentor provides academic, social and psychological support to his group of students. There is also
counseling centre for behavioral transformation.
· The parents/ guardians are periodically kept informed about the performance of their wards.
· Apart from large numbers of collection of books & journals, University has latest information
augmented Learning Resource Centre (LRC) including e-database which is open 24x7 days.
· IT and wi-fi supported laboratories, hospitals, research infrastructure, library, mess and dining facility,
separate hostel for boys and girls, transportation facilities, 24 hour electricity supply, campus wide RO
drinking water system, health hygiene and waste disposal facilities, water recycling STP plant,
landscaped garden, parks and parking facilities, 24 hour maintenance services and safety & security
facilities are provided for better campus experience of the student community.
· Stringent Anti-Ragging measures, Anti-discrimination, Anti-sexual harassment measures and
Grievances Redressal systems are built into the matrix of the university administration.
· The Career & Competitive Examination Forum guide the student appearing for competitive
examination such as USMLE, FLAB and IELTS etc. and facilitates career counseling and placement.
· Multi-centric Convention Centre, International standard sports complex and amphitheater are
provided in the campus.
· The University facilitates student participation in sports, cultural, arts and literary activities throughout
the year and promotes participation of students at regional, state & national level competition. Our
students have been bringing laurels to the university.
In the backdrop of the recent Supreme Court verdict and in furtherance to the gazette notification of The Indian
Medical Council Act (Amendment) Ordinance 2016, mandating all the medical and dental colleges in the
country to admit students for MBBS and BDS courses only through the ranking scored in National Eligibility
Entrance Test (NEET), the admission policy of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University for admission
to MBBS and BDS courses is as follows:

4. Admission Policy
Admission for MBBS and BDS courses in all the categories defined hereunder shall be made on the basis of
common merit list prepared separately for each category of seat, out of all the applicants on the basis of marks
secured in National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). In addition, the student seeking admission to MBBS and
BDS shall also meet other eligibility criteria given by MCI and DCI as applicable.
5. Category of Seats
1 . There shall be three distinct categories for admission into this university
I. General Category
ii. Jain CategoryMinority
iii. NRI Category
2. From the seats available in MBBS and BDS course, 15% of the seats shall be filled from the NRI
category & of the remaining seats 50% shall be filled from the candidates belonging to Jain
Community & other 50% shall be filled from the open category.
3. Following shall be the seats distribution.
6. Eligibility Criteria for admission to MBBS and BDS course
1. Candidate must be NEET qualified.
And
2. He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December, of the year of
admission.
3. He/she has passed qualifying examination as under:
1) The intermediate examination in science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining
body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include a practical test in these subjects and
also English as a compulsory subject; or
2) Must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have
obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the qualifying
examination as mentioned in clause (5) © (i)above.
3) In respect of candidate belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes,
the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40%
instead of 50%.
4) B.Sc. examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. examination with
not less than two of the following subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further
that he/she passed the earlier examination as mentioned examination as mentioned in clause (5) (c) (i)
(ii) or (iii) above.
5) Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to be intermediate
science examination of an Association of Indian University or any other authorized board.

7. Notification and Call for Application
1 Applications are called for admission to MBBS & BDS courses in Smt. B.K. Shah Medical Institute and
Research Center and K.M. Shah Dental College & Hospital respective constituent institutions of
Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University from all those candidates who meets the eligibility
criteria mentioned at clause no. 6 above.

The application form can be procured up to the date of 27th August 2016.
8. Submission of Applications
1. The application form with all information completely filled-up along with all the essential documents as
specified below should be submitted to university along with DD for Rs. 2600 /- in favor of Sumandeep
Vidyapeeth drawn on Vadodara by registered post only or in person.
The last date for submission of application form shall be 27th August 2016

3. For foreign / NRI / PIO Students, the equivalence certificate is issued by the Association of the
Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The candidates need to apply to AIU in the prescribed form
along with requisite payment. It is responsibility of the candidate to get equivalence certificate. For

4. Original documents need to be produced by the candidate only at Counseling.
9. Scrutiny and preparation of Merit List
1. Soon after the last date for submission of application, the Admission Cell segregates and collates the
applications received along with all the essential certificates in each category and submit the same to
the Central Admission Committee appointed by the university shall be the authority for conducting
admissions to MBBS and BDS.

2. The admission committee thoroughly scrutinizes all the applications so received and prepare merit
based rank list as per the category against the seats earmarked for the category.
3. The result of the application status and merit rank so prepared category wise will be announced on
University website by 1st September 2016, 5:00 pm. The result will also be intimated to individual
candidate by telephone and by email.
4. The date and time of the counselling is scheduled on 3rd September, 6th September and 7th September
2016.
10. Counselling & Admission
1. The candidate short-listed on merit-list in each category will be called for counseling.
2. Two rounds of counselling will be held in each category, two each for NRI category of seats, two for Jain
Minority category of seats and two for General category of seats based on seats distribution as given at
clause (5) above.
3. During first Round of Counselling, the seats will be allotted to candidates as per first or second choice
depending upon the availability of seat.
4. The second round of counselling will be scheduled if the seats are vacant. Accordingly the date of
second counselling will be intimated to the candidates.
5. If the allotted seats for the NRI and/or Jain minority community are not filled up during both rounds of
counselling, then these seats will be made available to candidates belonging to general category during
the next counselling for general candidates.
6. The candidate will have to appear for counseling at their own cost.
7. The physical presence of the candidate at the time of counseling is essential.
8. Absence of the candidate at the specified time, date and venue will result in forfeiture of any claim for
admission and university will not be responsible for the same.
9. Asking a candidate to report for counseling does not mean that he/she will be admitted to the course.
The actual admission will depend upon the course and seat availability, when his/her turn comes in
order of his /her inter-se-merit position.
10. The candidate has to prove his/her identity at reception desk and sign in the attendances register.
11. The candidate has to present his /her original testimonial of all the documents enumerated clause (8)
(B) above.
12. The documents of the candidates will be scrutinized by the authorized officer and the eligibility of the
candidates for admission is ascertained from the original documents and if found eligible, the Eligibility
Certificate will be issued by authorized officer.
13. After collecting the eligibility certificate, the candidate must present himself/herself before the
admission committee which allots the provisional admission after giving due weightage to the
preference of the candidate and availability of seats.
14. (1) The candidates claiming the admission under Jain minority community category must appear in
the interview before the designate committee which will verify the individual’s knowledge and
commitment towards Jain religion and society.
(2) The candidates who are offered with the admission in Jain minority community category must
have to execute a bond for serving the university in the area of need for a period of two years
after completion of course if a suitable job is offered to them.
(3) The candidates belonging to Jain minority community category must have to give an
undertaking to serve the cause of Jain religion and sponsor the education of at least one student
from weaker sections of Jain community.
(4) Under the Jain Minority category, the following candidates will be eligible.
1. Candidates belonging to Jain Minority community having membership certificate from
Jain Sanghs approved by the University.

2. Candidates sponsored by Jain Sanghs / Institutions who have affiliation to Sumandeep Vidyapeeth
Trust.
Normally such candidates should belong to the Jain faith. The certificate should mention that applicant
belongs to Jain faith and he/she and the family has regular and meaningful relationship with Sangh and
the religion. Such candidates must also agree to work in identified Jain Charitable Hospital for two years
at a reasonable compensation if sponsoring Sangh so desires.
15. After collecting the admission letter candidate must proceed to Accounts Department for payments of
fees. The application for admission to hostel is processed during the same time.
16. The provisional admission is subject to verification of the genuinity and correctness of the documents
by the issuing authority.
11. Fees Structure
1. Following is the fee structure for the MBBS and BDS courses, which is subject to change form time to
time.
2. The University accepts payment only towards admission fee, tuition fee and other fees as approved by
the competent authority.
3. University does not charge capitation fee or donation in whatever nomenclature or form.
4. College Deposit of Rs. 25000/- is payable which is refunded after completion and clearing all dues of the
university without any interest.
12. Withdrawal from the Course
1. In case the student informs of his intention not to join the University before the start of the academic
session, then 100% of the fees collected minus the processing charges of Rs 10,000/-, as fixed by UGC
shall be refunded within 15 days of receipt of information from the student.
2. If a student joins the Institution, and withdraws from the course seven days before the last date of
admission fixed by the statutory body and/or Supreme Court of India from time to time or in the mid-
session then the entire fees collected shall be forfeited. Further such candidate has to pay the fees for
remaining duration of the course.
13. Hostel Fee
1. Following are the charges levied for hostel, which is subject to change from time to time.
2. Hostel Deposit is refunded without any interest after completion and clearing all dues of the
university.

14. Anti-Ragging, Anti-discrimination and Anti-sexual harassment
1. University ensures strict observation of the discipline and conduct rules.
2. University maintains zero-Tolerance for Ragging, discrimination and sexual harassment and implement
Supreme Court, UGC and other statutory guidelines in true letter and spirits.
15. Grievance Redressal
All the admission related grievances must be address to the chairman of the admission committee. The cases
requiring detailed inquiry will be referred to University Grievances Redressal Committee. The decision of the
Vice Chancellor in all related matters shall be final.
16. Court Jurisdiction
Any legal dispute arising out of admission process shall be subject to the Waghodia Jurisdiction.
