    1.2.2 Dashboard Charts

Dashboard charts provide summary information by location and ISP. Temperature indicate status for the various groupings:

Green indicates that all devices in the group are online.

Yellow indicates that some devices in the group are online.

Red indicates that no devices in the group are online.

Devices by Location: Device location is determined using the device external IP address and polling GeoIP when the RBA connects to the AS management system. Devices are grouped by country, state and city.

Clicking a country displays devices by state.

To return to the Country view, click the [

Devices by ISP: Device ISP is determined using the device’s external IP address to lookup the owner of that address. Devices are grouped by ISP.

These graphs allow the CAPS user to quickly determine if a problem is related to the public Internet in a specific geographic area or to a specific ISP.

    1.2.3 Dashboard Stats

Scroll down on the CAPS Dashboard to view a table of the statistics used for the display. An example is shown below.

1.3 ORGANIZATIONS An organization is any entity that identifies the owner of a device managed by CAPS. Organization can represent a company, customer, company division or location, etc. Organizations are stored in an LDAP data structure with parent-child relationships. CAPS users are assigned an organization when the userid is created. This assignment is the root organization for that userid. The user can access any information related to that organization and to any child organizations. CAPS users can use organizations to manage devices in CAPS Inventory and to access information about devices in inventory. As used here, inventory includes devices in a warehouse and devices located at customer locations.

Enter the name of any object known to CAPS to search for that object and open the page for that object type with the object displayed. In the image below, the user entered “RBA” in the search and hit Enter to see the first SKU with RBA in the name.

Inventory allows searching by Organization or by Serial Number. In the image below, the Organization list has been expanded to highlight “ITNC Lab” and the inventory in the ITNC Lab is displayed in the table on the right.
