o CURATE: Content Standards & Organization; Grade Appropriate Practices; Accessibility for Students; Usability for Teachers

• Why use HQIM?o Comparable to over half a year of additional learning

o About 1.5 times the difference between an average teacher and one at the 75th percentile

o Greater than the difference between a new teacher and one with three years of experience

• How do HQIM support student learning?o Curriculum design team to adapt resources and guides

Page 7: Accelerating Math SY22-23: Webinar

02 Decision Making Points

Page 11: Accelerating Math SY22-23: Webinar

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

What are our needs for SY22-23?

Do we need access to Core Math program?

Do we need a supplement to our Core Math program?

Do we need PD to support our continued implementation of our Core Math program?

Page 12: Accelerating Math SY22-23: Webinar

Core Instructional Materials

• Decision Considerations:o How well do our current materials serve the needs of our

students?

o Have our current materials been reviewed by CURATE orEdReports?

o How current and aligned are our materials?

Do we need access to Core Math program?

Page 14: Accelerating Math SY22-23: Webinar

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

Professional Development

• Decision Considerations:o What year of implementation is this?

o What is the current status of our districtwide implementation?

o What are the specific needs of our educators?

Do we need PD to support our continued implementation of our Core Math program?

Page 15: Accelerating Math SY22-23: Webinar

Digital, Conceptual Supplement

These were chosen because there is a sense of autonomy which students can navigate these tools, but schools/districts are expected to monitor and support student use.

• Decision Considerations:o Do your students have access to computers

▪ During school?

▪ At home?

o This should be aligned with the Core Program▪ Does your Core Program have an aligned supplement?

▪ Are you comfortable making that alignment?

Do we need a supplement to our Core Math Curriculum?

How do you choose Core Instructional Materials?

Your Team should …• Review existing CURATE or EdReports for the available products

• Establish priorities to make meaningful distinctions between products

The priorities should:o Facilitate the realization of your instructional vision - describe instructional

expectations (Ex., instructional time, format, etc.)

o Reflect the needs of YOUR students

o Integrate with existing district structures (assessment, tech, initiatives, etc.)
