An intensive focusing on the Romantic Ballet Era – with special emphasis on Bournonville style. The ballet technique classes will include the Bournonville Barre exercises taught for over a century at the Royal Danish Ballet School. The Monday class will be focused on preparing for a professional audition—with a warm-up ballet class, then discussion of resumes/head shots/audition attire, as well as getting a good night’s sleep and having a healthy breakfast before the audition. “Homework” will include having the dancers prepare a resume to bring to the “audition” on Tuesday. The Tuesday class will be conducted as if it were a professional audition for a touring production. The dancers will then be given feedback on their audition “skills” and helped to improve their strategies for success. Each day’s warm-up class will further hone audition skills and prepare for repertory and choreography, with phrases from West Side Story. She will also speak with the students about work ethic and touring etiquette. Natalie will have time with the students for Questions and Answers about career advice, the different dance scenes in NYC, LA, Chicago and abroad, unions, agents and hopes to give real progress reviews.

natalie williams grew up dancing at the Academy of Movement and Music and with MOMENTA; she has a BFA in Dance Performance from Northern Illinois University where she studied with Randall Newsom, Judith Chitwood and Paula Frasz. She performed in Chicago with Inaside Dance Company and has spent two years doing an international tour of Jerome Robbin’s/Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.
