THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

KICK-OFF LUNCHEON Submitted by Event Planning Chair Judy Tirelli

Welcome all Academy members and study group leaders! Please come

to the April Kick-Off Luncheon to meet and greet new members, “old”

friends and study group leaders. Plus you won’t want to miss a sneak pre-

view of our 25th “Celebrating Silver” anniversary plans and a unique dis-

play of our community service project!

The pot luck luncheon is made possible by our returning members who

generously provide their favorite dishes! It has been said that variety is

the spice of life, and we welcome entrees, appetizers, and desserts to fill

our food tables. Membership and Event Planning committee members

will be there to greet you and accept your delicious dishes! Beverages

will be provided. Although we will be able to plug in crock pots and/or

warming trays, please bring your dish ready to serve; we will not have

the use of or access to ovens.

If you have an official Academy name tag, pull it out of its storage spot

and remember to wear it to the Kick-Off Luncheon! If you are a new

member, pick up your name tag at the luncheon!

ACADEMY FOR LIFELONG LEARNING

CELEBRATING SILVER!

Submitted by Executive Council Vice Chair Scheryl LoMonico

Celebrating with Empire State College (ESC) our 25 years (starting Septem-ber, 2017) of collaborative efforts to create an outstandingly successful life-long learning center in Saratoga Springs! Fellow Academy Members - Office Manager Vera Kasson saved the Cel-ebrating Silver Committee a great deal of time and effort (sourcing affordable graph-ic designers) by creating a gorgeous logo for our 25th anniversary year! For now, you’ll see it here in A.L.L. the News, but starting in the fall term, look for it every-where! We love that it features our anni-versary prominently, yet maintains the look and brand of our current logo. Thank you, Vera!

SAVE THE DATE! - Our Celebrating Silver Ban-quet is Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Gide-on Putnam Hotel, Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs!

Gloria Marceau leads the Knitters’ group, and they are knitting caps for donation to cancer patients being treated at Saratoga Hospital using patterns and guidelines from the website knotsoflove.org (go to www.knotsoflove.org/patterns) or you can use your favorite hat pattern. Not a knitter? Cash dona-tions are appreciated so that we may buy more yarn for those who are! Next knit-in will be March 16 from 2 - 3 PM at The Summit at 1 Perry Rd, Saratoga Springs (right after Kate Dudding’s Academy Extra “Painters & Friends: Re-noir, Monet & Sargent.”

We welcome your input and ideas for the 25th Anniversary. Send your ideas or comments to me at [email protected]. I invite you to join the Celebrating Silver Committee and work with a wonderful team! Our next Celebrating Silver Committee meeting is Monday, April 3 in room 175 at 111 West Ave at 10 AM. Watch A.L.L. the News for updates
