In just five years, another seed has been planted for

the growth of quality higher education in West Africa. Africa International University opened its doors for operation and started to accept applications for its inaugural class of Academie Internationale de Niamey students to begin in October 3, 2011. Operating under the same academic values as AIU, Academie Internationale de Niamey operates as a preliminary college/ secondary education program to provide the access, knowledge and preparation for the comprehensive college curriculum AIU will offer. Within five years, these students, amongst many other qualified candidates, will become official college students of AIU. Academie Internationale de Niamey students and faculty will follow the same mission statement as AIU in hopes to learn and excel in academic programs that are significant to the future maintenance and growth of the people of Africa and their communities. AIU has achieved many milestones in the past year thanks to the help of its generous supporters and their contributions.

We will continue to need the capital, human and technological resources to reach our final goal- to provide a quality education for students in West Africa. Moving forward, the organization hopes to continue to build this partnership and create a long-lasting network that will continue to invest in the hopes and dreams of African students. In July 2011, AIU in partnership with the Hillsborough Community College Ybor Campus hosted it 2nd annual fundraising dinner in Tampa, Florida and raised over $7000. In addition to monetary donations, AIU started to ask friends and family to donate laptops to the organization, so that each student will have access to their own individual machine during school hours. Almost ten laptops have been donated to date. Please continue to reach out to your social and professional networks, and inform them of this amazing triumph to provide academic access to students in West Africa. Please review the photos and financials for reference.
