Executive Summary

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Sophomore Success Program is designed to

aid students as they continue to transition into their second academic year. EOP offers

intrusive advising and career exploration related services. Sophomore year can be an

exciting time of reflection, learning about oneself, getting involved on campus, and

exploring major and career possibilities. The Sophomore Success Program offers a wide

range of services specifically catered to Sophomore/Second Year Sacramento State

Students.

During fall 2016, one hundred and seventy two students were identified as EOP sophomore

students. These students accessed Sophomore Success services by either individual

advising, group advising, learning community, or the bridge program.

EOP sophomore students attended advising at a rate of 99% for the fall and spring

semesters in the 2016-2017 academic year. Undeclared sophomore students met with an

EOP Graduate Advisor at an advising rate of 100%.

EOP sophomore students also increased knowledge on career exploration individually with

91% of students strongly agree/agree that they were able to explore their major outside

the classroom that summer.

In academics, EOP Sophomore Bridge students have 100% passing rates for English 20.

Students who participated in the EOP Sophomore Learning Community passed English 20

at a 96% passing rate.

Finally, EOP Sophomore Learning Community is a dynamic program. Ninety five percent of

students strongly agree/agree that they learned valuable and resourceful information.
