Nebraska’s Academic Programs
MissionThrough expertise and continuity, we passionately serve student-athletes by fostering transition, retention, and graduation.
• In collaboration with campus advisors, academic counselors will assist you in crafting your schedule
• In cooperation with the student-athlete, academic counselors monitor eligibility and progress toward graduation
• In addition to mentors, academic counselors will help to direct you to campus resources and other educational opportunities when appropriate

Nebraska’s Tutorial Program
• College Reading and Learning Association certification• Building Knowledge versus Telling Knowledge
• Facts about Nebraska’s tutoring staff 100-120 tutors Junior standing or above 3.0 GPA or above
• Facts about Nebraska’s tutoring program Available to ALL Nebraska student-athletes At no cost to the student-athlete No restriction on use Coordination with Nebraska’s Writing Center through the Department of English
10 hours of training
Nebraska’s Mentoring Program
• All newcomers to Nebraska Athletics are assigned an academic mentor
• Mentors assist student-athletes with time management and organizational strategies• Mentors have consistent contact with mentees through daily or weekly meetings
Calendars Student-Athlete Planners Electronic Planners
• Mentors work with student-athletes to gather grade information, log course grades into the GradesFirst program and relay information to Academic Counselors and Coaches or designated sport personnel
Nebraska’s Study Hall Program
• Assists in transition to college by learning to set aside time each week for academic purposes
• A yearlong commitment with incentives for early release• A 6-10 hour weekly commitment• Flexible hours to accommodate student-athlete schedules• Study hall is always supervised• Comprised of individual study, group study, quiet study, tutoring sessions and writing
consultations• Connect to campus by attending test review sessions facilitated by faculty and staff
