OBJECTIVE

The main objectives of giving project work on Disaster Management

to the students are to:

Create awareness in them about different disasters, their consequences and management

Prepare them in advance to face such situations

Ensure their participation in disaster mitigation plans

Enable them to create awareness and preparedness among the community.

GUIDELINES

The total length of the Project should not be more than 15 pages of A-4 size paper.

The project will be handwritten and credit will be awarded to original drawings, illustrations and creative use of materials.

The project will be presented in a neatly bound simple folder. Please avoid plastic cover. Instead, use handmade paper file. Colours

suggested are – Blue, Yellow and Green.

The project report will be developed and presented in the following order:

Page-2 Contents: List of contents with page numbers.

Page- 3 Acknowledgements: Acknowledging the institution,

Offices and libraries visited and persons who have helped.

headings and illustrations.

Page- 13 Conclusions: Based on findings. (Summary and Suggestions)

Page -15 Suggestions and recommendations

Page-16 Bibliography: It should have the title, pages referred, author, publisher, year of publication and if a website the name of the

website with the specific website link which has been used.

Climatic conditions in an area have an effect on vulnerability of that particular area to any disaster.

Select any 2 areas globally which are more prone to disasters.

Collect data about climatic conditions from the past and in the present day in those areas selected.

Draw a double bar graph on climatic conditions in the areas selected and compare the data of then and now .

Science

A School Disaster Management Plan aims to ensure the safety of the students and the staff and members of their families during an

emergency.

Identify and write disaster vulnerable areas within your school campus.

What committees do you think should be there in your school in order to manage disasters?

Write a list of resources that should be available outside school campus within the vicinity of 5km which are needed in disaster

management planning.

Name one activity of disaster preparedness performed in your school where whole school participates. Write briefly how does it takes
