• At the time in which the movie was set , Black people were disrespected for the littlest things .

• The white people made sure that the black people had a hard time ; treating them with no dignity , putting them down and attacking them , pretending that nothing had happened

men who participated in attacking the black people stood alongside their friend as he bashed up his wife , for letting the gravesite of the boys slip to the federal agents .

• There are many organizations throughout Australia which aim to stop violence against women

• One of these is Amnesty International created by the government , who run the campaign “Violence Against Women , Australia says NO “

• The Federal Government has given these organizations very little funding - with only $75.7 million allocated over 4 years given to address the issue

• The Government has shown that it is hardly interested in the much needed campaigns that deal with the issue

• Not enough is being done to stop abuse against women .

• More money needs to be put aside to support these campaigns .

• Australia needs to follow the lead of other countries and raise awareness and solve the justice issue of abuse against women !!!!

• There is still major issues involving women roles in the Church - if a woman wants to be a priest or pope or in anyway a leader in the church , they can’t

• Actually there is now a no tolerance rule about violence in general in any way or form

• Every Schools view of violence has changed over the years

Personal FeelingsPersonal Feelings• As a group , we believe

that abuse against women is disgusting and that nobody should condone it because men and women are equal

• And therefore we should be treated the same

• The Movie ‘ Mississippi Burning ‘ deals with the issue seriously and made us think about how we can help these women to overcome these horrible acts of cruelty

Most of these women won’t tell anyone about it and therefore the situation gets worse . We need to;

• Listen to women and Believe them

• Confront those in authority if they fail to prevent , punish and redress abuse

• Challenge religious , social and cultural attitudes and stereotypes which diminish women’s humanity

• Promote Women’s equal access

• Support women

• The wider community needs to know that some women are continually being abuse and they are in Great Danger
