1/1
The Spanish Empire was definitely one of the greatest empires that the world has ever
seen. Throughout the Middle Ages, this Iberian monarchy fought against her arabic
conscience, that was a part of Spain since the 8th century, constantly evolving andreaching the status of ruler of the global hierarchy. Moreover, as masterminds of
navigation, the Spaniards would go on to brea! the then"e#isting geographical barriers by
finding the $ew %orld. Everything was going perfectly for the Spanish &rown andduring the '(th century she was see!ing hegemony and establishing herself as a
dominant force all over the world. That leaves us to a big )uestion* %hat went wrong+
Slowly turning our attention to the early Modern times we can observe the fact that Spainwasnt that capable of handling the enormous amount of resources that were at her
disposal and besides that, other European countries would start to threaten her global
domination by evolving in a fast"paced mode. Shaping the modern Spain is a difficult
tas!, especially by analy-ing its ambiguous decisions regarding the adaptation to the new,Modern age. The transitional road to this era governed by democracy and rationalisation
destabili-ed the medieval"based Spain and brought her to a situation that she never faced
before* metamorphosis outside religion interference.
