Title : Analysing the Second Semester of English Education Department of UIN Alauddin Makassar Students Perception toward the English Teachers Competences in Teaching in Senior High School

Consultant 1: Dr. Hj. Djuwairiah Ahmad, M.Pd., M.TESOL Consultant 2: Sukirman, S.Pd.,M.Pd.The objective of this research was to find out the results of the second semester of English Education Department of UIN Alauddin Makassar students perception toward the English teachers competence in teaching in senior high school. This research was qualitative descriptive by using quantitative approach and conducted at the second semester students of English Education Department group 1, 2, 3 and 4, Tarbiyah and Teaching Science Faculty, UIN Alauddin in academic year 2014/2015. The total subject of this research consisted of 82 students.The data were collected through questionnaire and interview. The interview was used to obtain the temporary data to be discussed in the background of this research, and the questionnaire was used to gather the students perception as the primary data, and descriptive analysis as the data analysis method. There was one type of questionnaire. It is the students perception toward the English teachers competences. The English teachers competence, were perceived by the students, the pedagogic and professional competence. The data analysis and interpretation indicated: (1) for the students perception toward the English teachers competence, there was a good category or competence. (2) There was a good category from the students perception toward the English teachers professional competence.In brief, it could be concluded that the students perception toward the English teachers pedagogic and professional competence in teaching is good. Besides, according to the students perception toward the English teachers pedagogic competence, there were still some aspects that need to be improved such as the students perception toward the English teachers competence in mastering the learning theories and the education principles of learning, and implementing assessment with all technics and kinds. Overall, they are important to be prevented or more increased because it is easily to be decreased. Furthermore, as the students perception, the average count indicates that English teachers have good professional competence in teaching. However, the English teachers professional competence still needs to be given a more serious attention in order to make them be greater of professionalism. It can be perceived by the eyes that there was no aspects of English teachers professional competence categorized very good. xvi
