GET WHERE YOU’RE GOING… QUICK
Birmingham Airport is the UK’s third largest airport outside London and the seventh largest overall.£250m boost for West Midlands transport, including long-awaiting Brierley Hill Midland Metro link.
About 50 million shoppers are expected to visit Grand Central each year. An estimated 170,000 rail travellers pass through New Street station every day, making it the busiest stationoutside London.
The prospect of HS2 will strengthen the potential for current andexisting regeneration opportunities.
BY ROAD
Birmingham is strategically located for motorway travel with the M5, M6, M40 and M42 all interconnecting in and around the city. The commute by car into London is around 116 miles, or just over 2 hours on average. Drive times across the Midlandsare impressive with a typical journey time of 30 minutes to Coventry, 55 minutes to Leicester and 60 minutes to Nottingham.
BY RAIL
Three main rail stations serve Birmingham, New Street, Snow Hill and Moor Street, together providing a comprehensive network linking long distance destinations across the UK. New Street is the national hub for cross country and a major destination for Virgin trains from London Euston, Glasgow Centraland Edinburgh Waverley. The £56 billion development of HS2 will slash current rail journey times from London by over 30 minutes and from Leeds by 50 minutes when fully operational.
BY AIR
Birmingham international is approx 25 minutes drive from The Forge, enabling domestic and international air travel with ease and convenience. Destinations cover Europe, the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent, North America and the Caribbean with a host of airlines including BMI Regional, flybe, Jet2, Ryanair, Thomas Cook and TUI Airways all having regular routes.

A MELTING POT OF DEVELOPMENT & CREATIVITY
THE FORGE IS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN THE CENTRAL LOCATION OF DIGBETH WHICH HAS BEEN EARMARKED AS THE
MAIN RESIDENTIAL GROWTH AREA OF THE CITY, AND WILL BE HOME TO THE
NEW HS2 HUB SITE AROUND THE CORNER ON CURZON STREET.
The oldest part of Birmingham, Digbeth is an historic area with a fascinating past. Today, buildings survive from as far back as the 1300’s. The hard work
and creativity that once defined the area remains - Digbeth is the leading destination for creative
businesses and independent shops outside of London.
Developments in the area include the prestigious Beorma development delivering hotel/leisure uses and business space on the Cold Store site. Whilst in nearby
Eastside, the flagship Eastside Park, the impressive Hotel La Tour and the new Birmingham City University campus form a fitting gateway into the City’s Creative
Quarter that is Digbeth.
Exciting proposals include an integrated metro stop in New Canal Street extending through and serving
Digbeth. At the same time, there are plans for a wide landscaped plaza, Paternoster Place, that will
transform pedestrian connections into Digbeth and create gateway development opportunities.
Proposals for Digbeth also include 33,000 Sq m of retail place, 150,000 sq m of office space and
75,000 Sq m of residential development. It is estimated that this would create over 5,000 jobs.
Digbeth’s historic setting will provide a variety of unique and inspirational opportunities perfect for the
growing number of companies involved with digital technologies, design, television production and the
arts. It is envisaged that this will include a mixed use scheme at the prestigious Typhoo Wharf and a
canalside residential neighbourhood.
Other proposals for key sites include the Fazeley Street area which will continue to grow as a creative
hub with proposals for the Digbeth Digital Studios. The proposed new Metro stops will also transform
connections into the area which will also benefit from the proposed new bridges and open spaces
along the River Rea.
