Mission Statement Bankstown City Aged Care Limited strives for excellence in service provision to those people who are aged, disabled, suffer with dementia, or, who are otherwise disadvantaged. Service provision will be the delivery of high quality residential, home based and community support programs with primary consideration being given to the residents of Bankstown local government area, including surrounding suburbs.

HOME BASED SERVICES

About usBankstown City Aged Care is a not-for-profit, community-based, registered charity, established in 1972 to serve the very special needs of the frail and elderly in Bankstown.

We provide a comprehensive range of aged care services including residential aged care (Hostel, Dementia Specific and Nursing Home care), Home Based Care Services and a Dementia Day Centre (The Betty Sussman Centre).

We are made up of fourteen member organisations, including:

In July 1984 we commenced our Home Based Care Services with 30 clients. Today, we provide Community Aged Care Packages (CACP), Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) and Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH-D) services to over 200 clients in the Bankstown and Lidcombe areas.

Our experienced Home Based Services Coordinators tailor our services to meet the individual needs of each of our clients.

Community Aged Care Package ProgramCommunity Aged Care Packages (CACPs) are individually planned and coordinated care packages, designed to keep frail and older people in their own homes. Our CACP service operates seven days per week, including on-call, 24 hour emergency assistance. We tailor our services to meet the individual needs of our clients. Services can include:

• Medication supervision • Shopping and banking

• Transportation • Socialisation

• Light housework • Assistance with personal hygiene

• Light gardening/maintenance

• Support equipment pool

• Laundry

The program is subsidised by the Australian Government. Small daily fees are payable for our services, however we will not refuse help because of an inability to pay.

To receive a CACP you must first be assessed by your local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) and require at least low level care.

Veterans’ Home Care ServicesVeterans’ Home Care (VHC) is a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) program, designed to assist those veterans’ and war widows or widowers who wish to continue living at home, but need some practical help.

Our services include domestic assistance and respite care. A small fee is payable, which is determined by the DVA.

To be eligible for VHC you must be assessed by the DVA as needing home care assistance. The period and amount of care provided is assessed on an individual basis in accordance with set criteria.

Extended Aged Care atHome Dementia PackageExtended Aged Care at Home Dementia (EACH-D) packages provide high levels of support to those with dementia to assist them to remain living in their own homes.

We provide an individually tailored program to meet each of our client’s needs. Our services can include registered nursing care, personal care, transportation, social support and domestic assistance.

To receive an EACH-D package, you must be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT)

The packages are subsidised by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, and a daily fee is payable.

Home Based ServicesActivity CentreOur clients have a great time in our modern purpose-built Activity Centre in Georges Hall every Wednesday and Friday.

The Activity Centre allows our clients to socialise, share a meal with friends, be entertained and take part in a wide range of activities offered every week. Our monthly bus outings are a great day out.

We pick up our clients from their own homes, provide a tasty and nutritious lunch and drop them off home at the end of the day.
