RI President Gary Huang has given a call to all the Rotarians of the world to celebrate one day in this year as Rotary Day, mainly to create awareness among general public about Rotary and improve the Rotary image in the society. This is an unique event happening this year all over world. Zone 7 of the District responded to the call by organizing the event under the leadership of PDG Rtn. Krishna, ably supported by AG Rtn. Jayaprakash. Morning session was dedicated for the general public by organizing a health camp at Nanjaraj Bahadur Choultry. Stalls were set by different Rotary clubs of the Mysore Zone and Midtown organized a Dental check up camp in association with IDA, Mysore chapter and a stall was set up by Soofi Trust Special school to create awareness about vocational training for special children. Thanks to Rtn. Dr. Raghu and Rtn. Azeezulla for coordinating the setting up of the stalls.

Evening function at MRC Club House was for Rotarians and their families. Chief guest for the evening was none other than RI Director P.T.Prabhakar. Our own DG Rtn. Bhaskar graced the occasion. Sakala kala Vallabha of Midtown Rtn. Bhanuchandran was MC for the evening and as expected he beautifully anchored the proceedings. Only people of the caliber of Bhanu can anchor a high profile programs like this and as a co-coordinator of the cultural activities for the evening I did the right choice in assigning the duty to him. Special thanks to him.

Coming to actual proceedings of the program all the 12 clubs' presidents of Mysore Zone were on stage flanking the RID, DG, AG and PDG Krishna. A melodious invocation by Mrs. Asha Manjunath from Rotary North, inauguration of the event by releasing the hot air balloons was followed by 'about the program' by PDG

Krishna. DG Bhaskar was humourously introduced by MC Bhanu. PDG Lakshminarayan introduced RID, PT Prabhakar. PTP was felicitated in the traditional Mysore style. PTP's address was hilarious all the way for 25 minutes. He touched upon the aspects of building Rotary's image, the opportunity of being a Rotarian in society, contribution of Rotary in polio eradication, the importance of ' The Rotary foundation' in Rotary and contribution to Foundation by every Rotarian and many such things. His presentation was well supported by multimedia and his humorous anecdotes. DG Bhaskar gave the concluding remarks. Vote of thanks was proposed by AG JP, where he acknowledged the support of all the clubs of Mysore in organizing the event.

Concluding session of the evening was the cultural program. IW club of Mysore Midtown graciously came forward to give the skit presentation which they had prepared for their District Conference. “Ganeshana Hotte Purana” was the skit and the actors were Lavanya, Prabha, Anupama, Chaitra and Sheela. They did a great job and PTP himself felt it was a professional display and complimented them. Midtown Rotarians who could not watch their performance during IW District conference had a chance to watch and they were full of appreciation and gracefully posed for a group photo along with them. This was followed by a good fusion dance by Ms. Namratha and Ms. Jahnavi , children of AG Jayaprakash. Crisp cultural program concluded with Karoake singing of hindi songs by Rtn. V. N. Prasad and his accomplice for the next one hour while the crowd enjoyed the fellowship and dinner.

· “The number of Rotarians who have not given to our Foundation far exceeds the

number who have given, and we need to reverse that statistic.

Our target for the Annual Fund is US$123 million. Let us ensure that we reach it.”

Trustee Chair 2014 – 15

'·There are Dead Rotarians, Deadly Rotarians and Dangerous Rotarians in a club. Inactive Rotarians belong to the first category, some Past Presidents belong to the second category and some PDGs belong to the third category”
