th29 Jan- The day's proceedings began with our beloved District Governor Rtn Gururaj S and First Lady Ann Pushpalatha hosted for a breakfast at the New Ramya restaurant near RTO at 8:45 am. President , Secretary along with AG Bheemanna received the First couple and had mouth watering and filling breakfast starting from Badam Halwa to set dosa and coffee. Nearly 25 Rotarians joined the breakfast almost till 9:45am, the tennis playing Rotarians from MTC joining the breakfast directly in their tennis attire.

From there, we moved to RMA for the school inspection. After visiting the Science lab of the school and the Telescope under MARS Project, DG gave an inspiring speech to the teachers making them aware of their immense responsibilities since a student would be spending at least 7-10 years under their collective care. He also stressed on teacher development programmes. He really looked at ease while addressing the teachers as he himself is a teacher by genes.

RCC Vinyas website was launched by Rtn Gururaj at RMA. It has been created and designed by Mr N Pandu Ranga Rao who in spite of his special needs (spastic) has managed the feat of becoming CEO of Ican

Technologies. Mr Pandu Ranga Rao thanked Rtn Narendra for the help extended to him in achieving his goals and was lauded by the members gathered. His talk of two sentences lasted a few minutes' filled tears in many eyes. This event brought meaning to the DG's visit of project sites.

Our next stop was M J Soofi Memorial School, a school for special needs children which is being managed by Rtn. M. Azeezulla, Rtn. Kaleem Mohammed and Prof. M. Ziaulla,

children of late Mr M J Soofi. The efforts put in by the family in managing the special school was very much appreciated by the Governor and the First Lady who distributed footwear to the children.

The Club Assembly was held at RCL & Rotary Midtown's activities over the last 6-7 months were presented by the respective Directors before the Governor who exhorted us to achieve even higher goals. The club assembly which lasted a good 1 ½ hrs. was followed by lunch.

In the evening, it was a grand finale and we gathered at Fortune JP Palace for the public function. MC

for the evening Rtn. Dr. Ravindranath and the voice of 'Akashavani” Ann Anupama , really pulled the pigeon

out of the hat and the event was really memorable. After the introduction of the DG, the first lady Mrs.

Pushpalatha , who was on the stage was quizzed by the “Akashvani” about few personal aspects in the

family which brought cheers in the gathering.

New member Mr. Gopalkrishna, a computer hardware manufacturer was inducted into Midtown by

the Governor, with that Midtown is 71 members strong.

The icing on the cake was when AG Rtn Dr Bheemesh got emotional and was literally stumped for

words after a surprise introduction by his sister Mrs. Mukta. She did a wonderful job by introducing

Bheemanna purely on personal front which was really special. Bheemanna will remember this for life. The

members who contributed to TRF were recognised. DG's speech followed which was full of clarity and was

filled with thoughts relevant to the occasion. The rest of the evening the members interacted with each

other over dinner to bring down the curtain on an eventful day.

Never wash dishes again with the wax-coated, self-cleaning dishes from Tomorrow Machine.

The dishes, created in collaboration with

researchers from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, feature a coating made from wax that has been dissolved at a high temperature and pressure. The coating, said to mimic a lotus leafs' bumpy nano-structure, repels water, dirt and oil—eliminating the need for soap and water. When the meal is complete, simply tip the dishes over a trash can and let the excess sauces and crumbs slide off.

The coating is still under development to ensure it will be food-safe, but the team hope to have the project completed soon.

Rotary members in Turkey partnered with Türkiye Görme Özürlüler Kitaplığı(TÜRGÖK), a library for the blind, to produce the first cookbook for the visually impaired in both Braille and audio CD.

A commission of food engineers, dietitians, members of TÜRGÖK, Rotary members and their spouses, and those who are visually impaired helped select 100 recipes for the book using various criteria paying special attention that the recipes were healthy and included ingredients that are easily available and could be cooked by the visually impaired without difficulty. Each recipe was tried at least once by the commission.......
