ABOUT THE LAUREL FOUNDATION The Laurel Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1992 to provide educational and support programs to children, youth and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Programs tackle the complex social and emotional challenges (including negative social stigma, death of parent) associated with HIV/AIDS. With compassion and love, children and youth affected by HIV/AIDS are empowered to make positive life choices, cultivate a strong support network with peers and engage in learning new skills so they may live more self-sufficient, productive lives.

Camp Laurel Camp Laurel programs are based on traditional camp programs yet cater to the fragile physical and mental health of children and youth living with HIV/AIDS, while also helping them develop life skills needed to develop independent and satisfying lives. Camp Laurel is the catalyst for change, as children return home vitalized to rise above the isolation associated with HIV/AIDS to cultivate positive, fulfilling lives.

LEAF Mentorship Program The LEAF (Life Enhancement and Fellowship) Mentorship Program matches youth with volunteer mentors to build a relationship in which the mentor provides ongoing guidance, instruction and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee.

Online Video Support Groups The Online Video Support Group, created in 2012, is the first program of its kind in the United States and exists within a secure online third party video application. Teens have weekly scheduled chats facilitated by a licensed clinical social worker to discuss the feelings of isolation, fear, anxiety and other emotions associated with HIV/AIDS.

Collaborative Events Ongoing support programs include collaborations with other HIV/AIDS service providers and year-round support (day camps, birthday cards, etc.). YOUR SUPPORT OF THIS EVENT WILL HELP US TO SERVE OVER 550 CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES IN 2014.

“The Laurel Foundation helped my child understand and accept my HIV status for more than what society paints it to be. For the first time, she is able to discuss HIV openly. The Laurel Foundation helped shape her definition of this disease in a positive light.” –Alex, a parent
