Umar Da’u Abba was educated at Bayero University Kano and Federal Universityof Technology Yola, where he obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees, respectively. Heis a geographer, an environmental scientist, educationist and registered member of theNigerian Environmental Society (NES). He is presently a research officer with JigawaResearch Institute, Kazaure and a part-time lecturer with the Geography Department atthe Federal College of Education, Kano. He has four journal articles and he haspresented a number of papers at various conferences, nationally and internationally.His research interests are soil geography, hydrology and water resources, climatechange and environmental issues. He is married with children.

Varughese Susan is a Ph.D. scholar at the Department of Ecology andEnvironmental Sciences, Pondicherry University, India. She completed herMaster’s with a focus on membrane wastewater treatment technologies atPondicherry University. Her research focus is in the area of agricultural watermanagement and water transactions.

Vitullo Marina works at the Italian National Institute for EnvironmentalProtection and Research. She is responsible for preparing, improving andreporting the LULUCF sector of National Emission Inventory for the UNFCCCand Kyoto Protocol. Member of UNFCCC roster of experts in the area ofgreenhouse gas inventory. Her research is focused on the development ofmethodologies to estimate removals and emissions of GHG in the LULUCF, andcollecting, analysing and elaborating data concerning various processes affectingatmospheric emission at national and local level.Email: [email protected]
